RIM outs cheaper BlackBerry Curve 9320

Listen to article

The BlackBerry Curve 9320 was probably made to address demand from emerging markets (they released the Curve 9220 in India some weeks back) which still cannot generally afford even the entry-level BB handset.

If you looked at the specs of the Curve 9320 below, you will notice that it’s not any better than the Curve 9360 that was launched many months back.

BlackBerry Curve 9320 specs:
2.44″ display @ 320×240 pixels
512MB ROM
512MB RAM
up to 32GB via microSD card
HSDPA 7.2Mbps, HSUPA 5.76Mbps
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth 2.1
3.15MP rear camera with LED flash
FM Radio tuner
GPS w/ aGPS support
Li-Ion 1450mAh battery
BlackBerry OS 7.1

Perhaps, the only better aspect of the 9320 over the 9360 is the battery (1450mAh vs. 1000mAh).

So the only logical step for introducing this model is to offer it at a much lower price. Are we going to see a sub-Php10k BlackBerry soon? We’ll just have to wait and see once the Curve 9320 is released locally.

I envy these new BB phones coming out recently. I’m stuck with OS6 (Curve 9300), hindi upgradable to OS7. With these new phones, I might buy one just to try the OS7. I still find the physical keypad a win (an iPhone user here).

even if it goes lower than 8k, I don’t think I’d bother. I’m not a bb fan and I can’t see any great feature as well.

If this one costs around 8-10k, I won’t bother….I’d go for Lumia or neo…
