When the handset was shown to me by one of the Samsung reps this afternoon, I asked if it’s official or if I can take a picture of their upcoming Galaxy S i9000. Unfortunately, no photos were allowed.
Nevertheless, I was able to squeeze some more information about the model. They didn’t really told me when they’ll officially release but the hint is that it’s close to a month or two. The suggested retail price, though not final — Php32,000 for the 16GB model (they’ll be pushing this one instead of the 8GB model).

Samsung i9000 Galaxy S specs:
Samsung 1.0GHz processor
4-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen @ 480×800 pixels
8GB/16GB internal storage
up to 32GB via microSD
HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, HSUPA 5.76 Mbps
WiFi 802.11n w/ DLNA
Bluetooth 3.0 w/ A2DP
5MP autofocus camera
720p @ 30fps video recording
2nd front-facing VGA camera for 3G calls
Android OS 2.1
GPS w/ A-GPS support
1500mAh Li-Ion battery
Here are my first impressions of the unit after playing with it for some time:
- Large, gorgeous screen. Super AMOLED rocks! Really clear and crisp display.
- Very responsive and fast processor, thanks to that 1GHz Samsung CPU. Forgot to compare it side by side with the Nexus One of @artsamaniego and my Xperia X10 but it feels the same if not significantly faster.
- It’s got that nice familiar TouchWiz UI as layer on top of Android 2.1. Not very fancy but better than bare. It’s got 7 panels too, much like the HTC Hero.Couldn’t find that live wallpaper though that’s available on the NX1.
- It’s thin and has that look of the iPhone 3G, just a bit bigger.
So far, it’s an impressive-looking handset and with the specs that beats most other Android smartphones currently in the market.

Very Good
