Samsung Galaxy S4 scored 11k on Quarant Benchmark

We managed to get one round of benchmarks for the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the results of Quadrant benchmark were very impressive, beating any other handset we’ve tested before by a mile.

Because we had a limited time with the device and connection (both WiFi and 4G) were not good at the venue, we only managed to finish only the Quadrant Benchmark.

Samsung reps warned us that the unit we were testing was just a pre-production version so some of the features and functions might not be working pretty well. They requested that we don’t continue taking the benchmarks so we weren’t able to do the Antutu and NenaMark 2 tests.

In any case, an 11,239 score on Quadrant is the highest we’ve seen on any smartphone or tablet (beating scores we’ve seen on the Optimus G, Xperia Z, Padfone 2 and HTC Butterfly which were all hovering at 8k on Quadrant) we ever tested.

The S4 variant that we tested was probably the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 (APQ8064T) version. We weren’t able to see the one with the Exynos 5 Octa.

That kind of processing power will take a toll on your phone’s battery life.. Good luck on your 2600mAh battery

I don’t think it would affect the battery substantially. The performance of the CPU scales up / down depending on the work load. Also, the architecture of modern cpu allows for better performance with reduced power consumption.

You should be more concerned about the LCD and wireless connectivity since these two uses a lot of power.

I saw a demo on youtube flicking widget menu is still laggy. Kala ko kay S3 mini ko lang nangyayari yun since underpowered sya. Siguro nga it’s an Android thing na kahit na isalpak mo pa yung pinakalatest na innards, may tendency na mag chug up pa rin.

“Samsung reps warned us that the unit we were testing wasn’t a pre-production version..”- this should be WAS a pre-production version.

“..some of the features and functions might not be working pretty well”, I guess the unit tested was not even a pre-production as per their standards, so maybe a PRE “pre-production” one? ^_^

if you read the article, yuga mentioned the s4 is the only device he tested that scored an 11k on quadrant.

you really can’t blame him for it because he hasn’t had a chance to review the htc one or other flagship device coming soon.

The HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S IV (quad-core) use the same Snapdragon 600. They are basically the same.

I would go for the S IV since it has a microSD slot expandable up to 64GB.
