Sony launches another tough in the Xperia V

Following the footsteps of its rugged predecessors, the Sony Xperia V looks to take the throne as sexiest and smartest toughie around from its older brothers, or can it?

Although the handset barely possess significant difference from the other toughie from the Japanese stable the Xperia Acro S (which actually bested the recently introduced Xperia V is some aspects), it does have some slight advantage over the Acro S like LTE support and a megapixel better camera.

Sony Xperia V specs:
• 4.3-inch 720p HD Reality Display @ 1280×720 pixels, 342ppi
• Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon 1.5GHz dual core processor
• Mobile BRAVIA Engine
• Adreno 225 GPU
• 1GB RAM
• 8GB internal storage
• up to 32GB via microSD
• WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA
• Bluetooth 4 w/ EDR
• NFC support
• FM Radio tuner
• GPS w/ aGPS support, GLONASS
• 13MP autofocus rear camera, LED flash
• 1.3 front-facing camera
• PlayStation Certified
• HDMI port
• 1080p full HD video recording, 720p HD front camera
• Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich
• Li-Ion 1750mAh battery
• 129 x 65 x 10.7mm (dimension)
• 120 grams (weight)

After seeing the specs sheet, it’s interesting why Sony decided to outfit their latest brainchild with smaller battery pack considering that it has LTE support. Basing from the specs sheet alone, we think that the Xperia V is more of a parallel model to the Xperia Acro S than a flagship handset that will take over it.

No official word about when this smartphone will be launched but in terms of pricing we assume that it’ll be around the same price as the Acro S which we did a first impression of here.

Not MSM8260. Acro S’ design is way better than this. And why is it that Sony’s new phones are still running ICS out of the box. Drooling for JB, Nexus’ advantage.

What are you referring to MSM8260? And it’s great that it’s ICS out of the box rather than GB ^^. I really hope this phone sells for 17k-20k php. :D

Front Facing cam is only VGA, not 1.3mp.

Now, i think this would cost higher if not the same with the acro s, this is supposed to have s4 krait processor

    • Avatar for Bluerain Bluerain says:

Even thou it has S4 Krait dual core, the Front cam and the internal is the downside which make it costs lower than Acro S.

This Xperia, including its upcoming siblings, seems to bring back the curvy back of Xperia arc S, isn’t it?

I think Xperia V will be cheaper than Acro S because of it’s internal memory (8gb), VGA front cam.
