Sony launches Xperia Z in the Philippines

So it happened earlier than we initially expected. Sony Philippines, today, launched their new flagship smartphone in the Philippines — the Xperia Z and Xperia ZL.

We’ve already seen the Sony Xperia Z in action back in Singapore when we attended the regional launch there last month {see story and first impressions here}.

Sony Xperia Z specs:
5-inch full HD display (1920×1080), @ 441ppi
Sony Mobile Bravia Engine II
Qualcomm MDM9215M Snapdragon S4 Krait 1.5GHz quad-core
Adreno 320 Graphics
2GB RAM
16GB internal storage
up to 64GB via microSD card
DC-HSDPA 42Mbps, LTE 100Mbps
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, dual-band
Bluetooth 4.0
NFC
GPS w/ aGPS support, GLONASS
Li-IOn 2370mAh battery
Dustproof (IP5X) and Water resistant (IPX57)
Android 4.1.2 Jellybean
Dimension: 139 x 71 x 7.9mm
Weight: 146g

This is the only superphone so far that we’ve seen that can stand some hard weather — dust-proof, water-proof (and probably rain-proof as well).

Here’s a video demo we took this afternoon:

The expected retail price of the Xperia Z is about Php32,900 while the Sony Xperia ZL will retail for Php29,900. Expected availability is end of February March 2013 or sometime in April March. More photos, video demo and first impression review here.

    • hahaha +1 on that! hanggang ngayon wala pa din Lumia 920.. kahit yung 820 and 620 nila na-delayed ulit nung feb 15 eh. no accessories as well. boo!

    • Lumia 920 is already on display at Abenson Glorietta.

  4. Think we will see it in a sony store before the year 2015? The Xperia T or TX never made it to the sony stores, they never carry any highend sony phones.

I wouldn’t wait on this device, it might be so long

    • I highly doubt that. The title says that its already launched here in the country, meaning locally available na sya. The Xperia T or TX was never launched here (correct me if I’m wrong).

    • ano daw?!?!?!?

    • protruska

A staff of sony megamall told me that they will release it during the holy week with an srp of 35k.

gs3 user ako and waiting sa gs4.
pero….. ang ganda ng z ah… di mo pa kailangan alalahanin pag bigla kang inabutan ng ulan.. o may lechugas kang kasama sa party na bubuhatin ka at ihahagis sa pool.. not the fastest android or feature-packed gaya ng galaxy.. pero nice specification ng dust and water resistance nya..

    Reply
    • Its one of the fastest, only topped by the recently launched htc one. Feature packed? What galaxy are you referring to? At the time bieng, it is miles ahead of any galaxy phone, and probably among most android out there.

  12. OKAY NAMAN ANG MGA SONY XPERIA PHONES.
I LIKE THIS “Z” KASO MAS GUSTO NG LONGLASTING BATTERYLIFE TALAGA MAREREALEASE DIN NYO YAN BALANG ARAW NA MA ADDICT DIN KAYO SA PAGLALARO, PAG BROWSING NG SOCIAL NETWORKS GAMIT ANG INYONG SMATPHONE.

KAYA PASS MUNA AKO SA “Z” BABALIK AKO ULIT SA SONY XPERIA PHONES PAG NAGKAROON NA SILA NG ABOVE 3000mAh Battery.

i will switch to LG Optimus G PRO FOR THE FIRSTTIME.

    other than design
    just sharing…

    • Hindi lang naman sa beach or shower useful and waterproofing. Magagamit siya kahit nauulanan or pasmado ang kamay (wet finger tracking). Coffee or soda spill? Ok lang. Banlawan lang ng tubig pwede na.

  13. intoducing G Pro
    VERY far better than competitors.

  14. eto un iniintay ko nun una. ngaung may HTC one na. hirap n pumili.. any suggestions?? thnx

    • I suggest Xperia Z due to its Water & Dust Resistant. you may be turn off by its screen while watching on youtube but on reality its beautiful that’s why it called reality display(Xperia P owner.
HTC one is great, but HTC itself is going down, as of now there are no words about the success of butterfly, while Xperia Z sold 140K in 1st week at japan and sold out at france!!!

  15. HTC One pa din ako. Can Xperia Z compete with HTC one new ZOE software, Ultra pixel camera, Boomsound, BlinkFeed?

I dont know if you know what I mean. After all, these came all from one country na manufactured, and these are imported. tsk tsk

    Reply

Dami niyong reklamo. Depende naman sa gumagamit yan. Kung gusto niyo ng high capacity battery mag N2 kayo or G pro. Hindi kayo pinipilit ng sony na bumili. Haha. :)
may nakita akong isang site may nag comment na user.
9hrs of heavy usage 3.5hrs of screen time 4g bluetooth ON with push notification. Take note its a 1080p display with quad core processor. 3.5hrs of screen time is good with 4g connection active.
