Sony Xperia Z Ultra official: bigger and better Z at 6.5mm

Sony has just revealed their first phablet device – the Xperia Z Ultra. The phone takes in an HD display of 6.4-inches with a new Triluminous display technology, a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 CPU and the same waterproof & dustproof body from the Xperia Z, all at the thinness of 6.5mm.

In addition to those behemoth-like specs, Sony says that the Z Ultra also has support for any pencil or pen whose tip is over 1mm. Not everyone will enjoy a smartphone beyond 5-inches, but other than that and the lower-res 8MP camera, the Sony Xperia Z Ultra just became the smartphone to beat.

Sony Xperia Z Ultra specs:

2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800
Adreno 330 Graphics
2GB RAM
16GB internal storage

8MP rear autofocus camera
1080p video recording @ 30fps
2MP front-facing camera, 1080p video

3,000mAh battery
Dustproof and Waterproof

wala po syang LED. Pero i think may ibang variant na iaanounz sa Paris this July 4 with shutter button and LED flash. I agree. wag po tayong reklamo ng reklamo kung ni isa dito eh hindi pa man lang nakahawak. Lets give it a chance gaya ng pag imagine natin kong gaano kaganda ang Note 3 sa ating imahenasyon.

My cents…just saying ah….dont always conclude without evidence na kesyo ang bat is just like this and that…when you have actually played with it..then dun ka mag comment…truth to be told that given the specs and its proportionality is rather short but judging it right away is medyo not that good…benefit of the doubt din pag may time haha..again just saying….

    • Avatar for nono nono says:

sir its almost impossible na d mascratch, most phones suffer visible scratches or even cracks at a height of about 3 ft. what more kung 2nd floor pa??(baka naman may case yan o kaya kutson pinagbagsakan) =)))

and to help you visualize. maulan that time so medyo basa lupa, so 2nd floor pa rin

Absurd battery life. Wow. 3000 mAh? Really? The Note II has bigger battery than this.

    • Avatar for Name: Abed Name: Abed says:

You would hardly notice a 50mAH battery difference bro. :)

    • Avatar for Ehyeh Ehyeh says:

      @Abed
you won’t notice the difference provided they’re the same hardware. Note II and Z Ultra do NOT have the same hardware

the problem is that relative to the phone’s hardware specs as i’ve explained in my previous post, Note II effectively has the significantly bigger battery than Z Ultra.

the difference can definitely be felt. one report already says that Z Ultra only has 5 hours of video playback time. compare that to Note II having a whopping 10 hours of video playback time.

Z Ultra in order to make sense as a usable PHONE/tablet hybrid should have had higher battery capacity

      It’s priced 719 euros or a whooping 40,700 (approx) in Netherlands. http://stechienotes.com/sony-xperia-z-ultra-announced-specs-price-overview/

    TWO shortcomings that I noticed

    1. Only 3000 mAh battery
    2. No led Flash

Come On that thing is already a tablet, sana man lang ginawa nila at least 4000 mAh

“8MP rear autofocus camera, LED flash”

      basa basa pag may time.

    • Avatar for Abed Abed says:

Or Snapdragon 800 might be very power efficient. I hope so :)

    • Avatar for abuzalzal abuzalzal says:

      LOL @ shunga_ka

sabi na walang LED flash eh

      shu shunga shunga ka naman

    • Avatar for abuzalzal abuzalzal says:

      @ Abed

that thing has ONLY 5 HOURS of continuous video playback….compare that to my Note 2 which can last for about 10+ hours of continuous 720p marathon (30 percent brightnesss)

Bitin brod….Imagine pag heavy gpu-demanding games na, mga 3-4 hours lang yan

    • Avatar for Abed Abed says:

      @abuzalzal

Actually Note II has a 3100mAH battery rating while this Z Ultra has a 3050mAH. Let’s wait for the review na lang bro. Some phones actually varry by video playbacks besides this phone uses a new chipset. :)

    • Avatar for Ehyeh Ehyeh says:

“Note II has a 3100mAH battery rating while this Z Ultra has a 3050mAH”

Note II is also 5.5″ and only 720p

      Z Ultra is a whopping 6.4″ and a full 1080p HD display

i really doubt the Snapdragon 800 (and at a roaring speed of 2.2GHz) is super-duper-mega-ultra-efficient enough to compensate for the deficiency in that rather poor battery

also 6.4″ with those awfully big bezels is still considered a phablet? heck even Note II’s 5.5″ is already pushing it, this is why i wasn’t too happy when i heard that the Note III will be a 5.9″

    • Avatar for Abed Abed says:

Ah sir @Spike Like Mike there’s a correction note just below the video, same on your link this phablet has no LED Flash. :)

Sir @Ehyeh in that case, let’s just wait for the review before we conclude.

      Regards,

    • Avatar for Spike like Mike Spike like Mike says:

      @Abed

Thanks for the correction. I did not notice it.

Honestly gusto ko lang basagin si abuzalzal because u will see all his stupid complaints and bragging his device everywhere. Kakaumay! Hahahaha.

This is a Sony Device Article, not Samsung or any brand so comparing the device that is not even officially in the market are totally stupid.

Besides the best way to compare two things if you both owned the device itself. Just saying…

    • Avatar for Abed Abed says:

Yep! Totally agree with your statement sir @Spike like Mike. :)

Sabihin man nilang power efficient ang Snap800…there is absolutely no way na tatagal ang ganyang kaliit na battery sa ga-tablet na screen
