Starmobile Diamond X1, 6-inch with Octa-core CPU

A few days ago, Starmobile sent out info that they’ll be releasing their first octa-core Android smartphone that packs a 6-inch display, an 18-megapixel shooter and 2GB RAM – the Diamond X1.

Starmobile didn’t provide much info on their teaser release but after some digging and cross-referencing with press renders provided by Rappler, we believe that it’s a rebranded Intex Aqua i17 which was launched in India last month.

Take note that the Diamond X1’s main and front cameras feature a higher pixel count at 18 megapixel and 8 megapixel respectively. So some of the specs listed above may differ from the actual Diamond X1.

The Starmobile Diamond X1 is slated to be launched in January 2014 with an expected price not exceeding Php15k. This compliments the Aqua i17’s price of Rs20,000 or around Php14k when converted.

Don’t count on it StarMobile. this is just building hype and giving false hopes to buyers. I’ve seen this marketing ploy with the SM Knight, which is over-hyped and no availability nationwide. Starmobile’s logistics cannot equate with their marketing. Meaning, Launch Date to Rlease Date is too long. When SM Knight arrived in store here in cagayan de oro, it never sold out because it was over shadowed by the arrival of the CM Cosmos X2. Cherry mobile’s just lurking behind this marketing, I bet my neck that Cherry “CAN” release and make available an Octacore phone before SM X1 reaches stores.

palagay ko talo ka sa pustahan.. Dami na nakabili nitong phone na ito.. narelease na. San octacore ng CM???

indi marketing strategy ang ngyari sa release ni SM knight. kapalpakan tawag dun. And thoguh they paid for it.. it seems they also learned from it.

That octa core is very misleading. It’s an ARM big.Little architecture. Four cortex A7s and four cortex A9 or A15 cores. The A7s run when minimal CPU is required, switching to the more powerful cores when needed.

So it is really a four core CPU.

The Exynos 5 Octa uses the same scheme. Supposedly all 8 cores will soon be usable, good news for us Galaxy S4 users.

But the A7 cores are much weaker than the A15 cores that I don’t think it’s relevant.

    • Avatar for Mang Tomas Mang Tomas says:

Idiot. The mt6592 is a real octa-core processor. All 8 cores are simultaneously active.

    • Avatar for zhel zhel says:

Lol.. Mag marunong ka pa… Hindi exynos yan. NKT6592, lahat ng 8 cores nyan A7 na gumagana ng sabay sabay..

Basa basa muna pag may time.. pag wala.. wag magmarunong

There’s a reason why they didn’t announce the price lmao

It is ”almost” a certainty that this phone is gonna be one of the most expensive first wave of Octa device this coming January, karera sila ng O +, hahaha

Mag HUWAWEI na lang kayo…ALCATEL idol X+ could’ve been an excellent choice, but they blew it due to the lack of storage expandabillity.

expect the CRAZY UNJUSTIFIED price kaya congrats sa bibili hahaha

  17. Avatar for jp jp says:

The battery is 2,600 mAh and not 2,300 mAh as stated in this yugatech article. Otherwise, it is a disaster.
