Looks like we have another Chinese electronics company to watch out for as it has just announced its 5-inch quad-core flagship with a full HD display and a price tag of about $260, the UMI X2.

The UMI X2 sports a 5-inch 1080p IPS display, a 13 megapixel camera, 3 megapixel front-facing, 32GB of internal storage, microSD card support, 3G, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, and dual-SIM/dual-standby capabilities. Powering the device is a MediaTek MTK6589 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 2GB of RAM, a PowerVR SGX544 GPU, and a 2,500 mAh battery. It runs Android 4.1 Jellybean out of the box with a planned upgrade to Android 4.2

The UMI X2 is slated for release in the Indian market between March 15 to 20 with a price tag of INR14,000 ($260) or around Php10,500. Now that’s what you call high-performance at a low cost. Let’s just hope that this smartphone lands locally.

bakit pa nagdedevelop ng china na phone ang mga brand dito sa PH? bakit di na lang sila magkaroon ng sariling “TOUCH” para naman hindi pa rin pagkamalang android na galing china? Dapat mas magaling na ang tao sa pinas na gumawa ng sarili nila imbis na nagiimport pa sila? DIBA?

Tama kayo jan sir Kent! parang cherry mobile mahilig mag-import and have it rebranded. im not against their products it’s just that they are local brands, so why not make their own hardware diba? Like their CM Flare is the Karbonn a9 in other country. If they’re going to make a Philippine made hardware and software in that sense i can be more proud of having it.

that graphics chip is a no-no for me…it wont stand up to the rigors of today’s HD-3D games,plus the hi-res screen..

@John – totally agree; we should shun Chinese companies in protest of their atrocious Nine Dash Line map that includes our Kalayaan Islands.
@yuga – please minimize posting products that are natively Chinese, those that have no chance of being marketed here :D

You should already know that this act is obviously ridiculous. What is the Philippines compared to the rest of the foreign markets? I’m not saying the Chinese have the right to claim these islands, but loss of the Philippine market would hardly have any effect in their economy. And besides, almost 90% of all the products you see around you were made in China.

self-opinionated individuals! so childish! if thre’s no chinese products can you afford guys to buy that so called expensive gadgets? the fact is not all chinese products are bad? infact chinese brand such huawei and zte are in the list of smartphone makers in the world? would you think they would be in the list if people are not buying their products? people are buying them coz they are good and competitive when it comes to specs and performance!

I agree, this phone has incredible value for money. Quad-Core, 2GB RAM, 32GB Internal Storage, IPS and Full HD Display and Jelly Bean for only P10k? Those are absolutely fantastic specs, for an absolutely fantastic price.

What I want to see is MyPhone importing the new Micromax A116 Canvas HD that sports similar specs as the X2 (just a bit weaker though). They renamed Micromax’s A110 Canvas 2 into their A919, we need a Pinoy-branded quad-core phone. With Jellybean 4.1 and a 4.2 update on the way.

No, some people still want the map sa likod (like me), consumers should have the option of buying the handset with or without the map. Pay a few pesos more for a mapless back cover.
