Xiaomi Mi-2 production begins on September 22

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has revealed that they will start production of the Mi-2 quad-core smartphone on September 22 with a planned release in October.

We wrote last month that the Xiaomi Mi-2 is the first smartphone to be powered by a Snapdragon S4 Pro (APQ8064) – Qualcomm’s quad-core processor that blew away the competition in benchmarks. (See results here)

Xiaomi originally planned to release the Mi-2 with only 16GB of internal storage but decided to release a 32GB model as well. Both 16GB and 32GB variants will hit the market at the same time.

The Xiaomi Mi-2 smartphone will run Android 4.1 Jellybean with MIUI V4 skin and will be sold for 1,999 Yuan or around Php13,000.

    In the meantime i’ve bought Huawei and ZTE smartphones and working just fine…

    I have this phone. I bought it through ebay and had it shipped to Hong Kong — to my sister’s place, then hand-carried it to the Philippines. All I can say is it’s a brilliant phone, especially if you upgrade it to MIUI V.5 custom ROM. My officemates were astounded by its features and most of them thought that it was an iPhone. Haha. ^__^

    im using a motorola phone rooted to miui gingerbread only but its faster than before, displays great, touch sensitivity very good. . .
    miui combines the looks of ios & functionality of android… try it
