Xiaomi postpones Oreo rollout to Mi A1

We’re only just about a week and a half in since Xiaomi announced the Oreo update of its Mi A1 device but it looks like the company has stopped the rollout, possibly due to reported bugs.

The reports started when users took to Reddit to ask about the sudden disappearance of their update notification. A more solid confirmation came through though when a reader tipped PiunikaWeb. The said website received a screenshot from one of their readers about their conversation to a Mi representative who stated that the Oreo updates for the Mi A1 has been temporarily stopped. (see below)

Several bugs reported by users include battery drain issues due to Bluetooth, broken UI ambient display notifications, and the inability to receive incoming calls when the phone’s display is off among others. Xiaomi has confirmed a bug though, related to the dialer app and has since issued a workaround for it as they look into the problem. As for the rest of the other reported bugs and an update on the rollout, Xiaomi has yet to offer an official statement.
