ZTE Geek packs 2GHz dual-core Intel Clover Trail+

More and more handset are now trying out Intel’s Atom chips for their handset. The latest announcement is from ZTE with the ZTE Geek packing a dual-core 2.0GHz processor.

The ZTE Geek is a 5-inch handset running the latest Intel chip for smartphones, the same chip that the Lenovo K900 is using.

ZTE Geek specs:
5.0-inch 720p LCD
Intel Clover Trail+ Z2580 2.0GHz dual-core
PowerVR SGX 544MP2 graphics
1GB DDR3 RAM
3G/HSPA+, LTE
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth 4.0
GPS w/ aGPS support
8GB internal storage
8MP rear camera
1MP front-facing camera
Li-Ion 2300 mAh battery
Android 4.2.2 Jellybean

Based on our previous benchmarks with Atom on the Motorola Razr i, the processor performs well even with single core so we’re expecting it will be much better with the dual-core Clover Trail+.

We’re unsure when this will arrive in the Philippines or if MSI-ECS will eventually distribute it in the country.

    Hi, Yuga.

Can you please make a feature post differentiating Atom based phones from ARM based ones? Why one is better than the other, etc.?

Mas powerful ang Atom, the Clover Trail + dual should. ‘outbenchmark’ the Qualcomm 600….just to give you an idea, the K900 Lenovo running on the same chip but with a 1080p screen has a 27k Antutu score (on par with the latest Samsung Exynos found in Galaxy S4) but since 720p lang ang ZTE, in theory it should beat the S4 in synthetic benchmarks.

However, battery consumption on the atom remains to be seen.

But this Geek should be cheaper given the specs vs the K900 (which happens to be part of the Lenovo GeeK line of smartphones)

Now it seems that the Lenovo K900 has found its worthy rival.

Nice specs just wondering why only 1GB of RAM. Don’t know if it’ll perform the same way as Lenovo K900 but I’m sure it will be cheaper.
