Acer to release six new smartphones in 2013

Acer isn’t actually making a huge dent in the smartphone market but that doesn’t mean it’s going to give up easily. In fact, it is going to launch six new smartphones next year and one of them will be running Windows Phone 8.

According to Acer president Jim Wong: “One of the six models will be a Windows Phone 8 device and the rest will run on Android platforms, with high-end models to be built with Qualcomm’s dual-core CPUs and entry-level models using chipset solutions from MediaTek.”

Acer is also planning to outsource production of these smartphones to ODMs Qisda and Compal Communications.

The new Acer smartphones wil be released in Europe, China and Southeast Asia.
