Alcatel Idol 3 coming this September

We received confirmation that the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 will be officially available in the Philippines this early September. Of the two sizes of the Idol 3 (4.7-inch and 5.5-inch), only the 5.5-inch version will be released.

The 5.5-inch Idol 3, with its €250 (Php12,400) MSRP, is looking to complete with the likes of the Moto G or the Zenfone Selfie.

What’s interesting with the Idol 3 is that it is symmetrical and reversible — meaning you can use it on any orientation. The smartphone also comes with dual hi-fi speakers using the Clari-Fi audio chip by Harman.

Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 (5.5) specs:
5.5-inch IPS LCD display, 1080 x 1920, 401ppi
Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 octa-core
ARM Cortex-A53 1.5GHz quad-core and ARM Cortex-A53 1.0GHz quad-core

Android 5.0 Lollipop
2910 mAh Li-Ion battery
152.7 x 75.1 x 7.4mm (dimensions)

According to our source, Globe Telecom will be the one that will be shipping/importing the Idol 3 which means it will not be available in the open channel (if you can remember, Lazada was also the exclusive distributor of the Alcatel Flash Plus).

This could mean that the only way you can get the Alcatel Idol 3 is thru a postpaid plan. We will be getting more information about this release and post them accordingly.

Let’s not forget that Globe (and Smart for that matter) also sells phones to prepaid subscribers. So one might still get a chance to buy the Idol 3 without having to apply for a new postpaid line.
