The latest Android OS dev preview is now available for selected devices namely: Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, and Nexus Player. As for the final version, it’s reported to arrive during Q3 of this year.

Some of the improvements of Android M include:

  • Chrome Custom Tabs – for faster web browsing and a more intuitive user-experience
  • Fingerprint support – it now applies in making purchases for both online and offline transactions
  • Android Pay – works with any NFC-capable smartphone to make transactions easier and faster
  • Doze – uses motion detectors to determine if the user isn’t using the phone so it could go to ‘sleep’ and reduce background performances
  • Google Photos – standalone app that stores unlimited photos and videos as long as they don’t go over 16MP and 1080p resolutions
  • Improved Google Now
  • Faster Google Chrome

Android has always supported 64-bit processor ever since the Linux Kernel supported it.
