Anti-Selfie Bill proposed in Congress

There is a bill in Congress that seeks to prohibit taking photos of people without their permission. House Bill 4807 or the Protection Against Personal Intrusion Act is already on its 3rd reading.

The Anti-Selfie Bill covers taking photos of people without their permission, including private property for the purpose of personal gain or profit.

The House Committee on Public Information, chaired by Rep. Jorge T. Almonte (1st District, Misamis Occidental), sponsored and endorsed for plenary approval House Bill 4807, which substituted House Bill 3548 authored by Reps. Rufus B. Rodriguez (2nd District, Cagayan de Oro City) and Maximo B. Rodriguez, Jr. (Party List, ABAMIN).

Co-authors of the measure are Reps. Gwendolyn F. Garcia (3rd District, Cebu), Linabelle Ruth R. Villarica (4th District, Bulacan), Jose L. Atienza, Jr. (Party List, BUHAY), and Leopoldo N. Bataoil (2nd District, Pangasinan).

No penalties have been indicated in the proposal.

Wow Abe… I expected better writing from you being a regular reader/visitor of your site… Read your headline..”Anti-Selfie Bill proposed in Congress”… then read the first sentence of this report…”There is a bill in Congress that seeks to prohibit taking photos of people without their permission.”… don’t you think your headline is misleading? Since when is ‘taking photos of OTHER people WITHOUT their permission’ becomes ‘ANTI-SELFIE’????…. just to get pagehits perhaps????

    • It is the “nickname” of the bill they used in congress. We just followed their terminology.

    • TANGA, ANG SISIHIN MO YUN TONGRESSMAN KASI YAN YUN PINANGALANAN NYA SA BILL.

@Akuma… MAS TANGA ANG POST LANG NG POST PERO DI NAGBABASA NG ARTICLE… DOESN’T MATTER KUNG SAAN GALING ANG NEWS, IT IS UPON THE WRITER TO CORRECTLY STATE WHAT THE INFOR HE IS TRYING TO CONVEY… THERE IS PROPER WAY OF WRITING THE HEADLINES, LIKE USING QUOTATIONS, TO AVOID MIS-INTERPRETATION… LEARN YOUR JOURNALISM IF YOU MAY…. KUNG ABOT NG ISIP MO YUN…. OTHERWISE, CHILL….

    • The “Anti-Selfie” term was coined by media. There was no mention of it in the HB 4807. It was sensationalized para mapansin kasi ang media ang maapektuhan sa bill na eto. It should have been called “Anti-Paparazzi” Bill. I guess Abe didn’t care about proper information as long as he gets views.

    • Tunay na ito ang nickname ng bill na isinumite ni mambabatas. Huwag masyadong maging judgmental…ikaw din baka maging judge ka na napunta sa mental! Tigilan na ang angas kung wala din naman pambili ng bigas.

  5. Freedom of Information Bill muna. Ang tagal na nun, di pa maipasa pasa. Di hamak naman na mas malaki ang pakinabang non kesa dito sa Anti-Selfie nato.

  9. Ibig sabihin nito, kung mag selfie ka, make sure na lahat ng tao (or private properties) sa background, nakakuha ka ng permiso.

Secondly, kung may makita ka crime in progress, like nag ke candy crush na senator during session, bawal kuhanan ng pic.
