Hackulous exits the iOS app business

As the old song goes, every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end. In essence, that’s what the team behind the well-known iOS app repository, Installous, said to the community they left as they exit the app scene.

In a short message the team left on their website, they mentioned that the main reason for the abrupt departure was the lack of activity in the community and forum. Moreover, they’re also having a hard time keeping the show rolling in spite of the team’s best effort.

Installous

In all honesty, we’re finding their cause a little bit hard to believe as it is considering their huge fan base they established through the course of their stay in the business. And because of this, we also think that the team is getting sizeable income from their in-app ads, which leads us to think that there may be a bigger reason behind their decision to leave the industry.

We can all speculate the true root cause of their departure or we can just thank them for countless dough we saved by opting for their service rather than paying the talented developers for their efforts. Either way, we can all agree that Hackulous will be dearly missed and hopefully other groups/communities will be able to fill in the void that the team left in the iOS app ecosystem.

Piracy is here to stay: Hackulous out, Kuaiyong in. And you don’t even need to jailbreak with Kuaiyong. Apple will just have to live with it, I guess.

its just 45 freakin pesos for a very well made app and if you don’t really want to pay, use appshopper.com and wait for your favorite apps to become free.

Give developers whats due them, just think, if developing apps is your bread and butter, would you like others to pirate your app too?

Also, you don’t need a credit card to buy from the appstore, make a US itunes account (google how to make iTunes account without a credit card) then buy iTunes gift card from eBay.ph, Sulit.com or tipidcp, 440-700 for a $10 iTunes gift card and you can download your favorite apps, no piracy required.

I don’t remember mentioning that we tolerate/ advertise downloading of apps illegally.

      Sir, can you explain this.

“We can all speculate the true root cause of their departure or we can just thank them for countless dough we saved by opting for their service rather than paying the talented developers for their efforts. In all honesty, I really don’t want to explain it just to prove that we are not pro-piracy. We’re not here to please everybody, but since you insisted, here it goes.

The first sentence in that paragraph is satirical in nature. If it haven’t dawned on you yet, well at least you now have an idea.

The second one is about the other things that Hackulous is offering the community other than making paid apps free. Some of the apps that were disapproved by Apple goes to this repository. It’s helpful for devs in such a way that they’re still able to reach their target audience (or at least some of it) without Apple’s help.

I Know Installous is gone and it maybe even one of the biggest place to find cracked apps but No fret a substitute would be Appcake its almost the same :D

FYI: i’m a android and iOS user. Pero pagdating sa ecosystem ng OS ill for android. Dahil sa pagiging open source nila. Takaw kasi ng apple company. hahaha

You Dont need a Credit card to buy apps Just use iTunes Gift cards its what i buy all the time to bypass the credit card system i use it as a prepaid method much better

might as well not expect an untethered jailbreak and unlock for ios 6.

Fuck you. I can never understand someone who can afford an iphone, ipad or an ipod touch but can never afford a dollar or a 10 dollar app. The apps are priced fair enough and are justifiable for a purchase if truly needed.

Nakakabastos naman sa mga software developers.

    Jailbreaking shouldn’t be about piracy.

    • Avatar for Ligrev Ligrev says:

      It was never about piracy.

Mas marami lang talaga ang abusado.

I totally agree with you on your points, minus the expletive.

    • Avatar for Kamote Kamote says:

Most people who buy iphone and ipad don’t even know illegal yung ginagawa nila pag install ng mga apps.

    • Avatar for Conscience Conscience says:

      +1

I have iOS and Android devices and none of the apps I run are counterfeit versions.

My older devices are jailbroken only to make their performance smoother and without much hiccups caused by the recent updates.

You can wait for the apps to go on sale if they’re priced too steep. Like this Christmas, Square Enix slashed off 70% from some of their most popular games.

Please, support app developers as much as possible.
