Voodoo Envy 133: Thinner than Air?

Earlier this month, HP announced the entry of Voodoo Envy 133 which was vying for the title of “thinnest laptop alive”. Thinner than the MacBook Air they say, at only 0.70″ at its thickest (the MB Air is thicker at 0.76 of an inch). HP spared no expense in making the Envy 133 a tough challenger to the Macbook Air.

Samsung Instinct released on Sprint

The new Samsung Instinct has just been released and now available via Sprint. Walt Mossberg of the Wall Street Journal thinks it’s an “ok” phone but definitely not an iPhone killer. In his Samsung Instinct review, Mossberg mentioned the iPhone 31 times and the Instinct only 19 times (this guy is definitely not an Apple fanboy!).

Twenty-four hours later, over 7 Million downloads were made for Firefox 3 worldwide surpassing the 5M target by Mozilla. In comparison, Opera 9.5 had 4.7 million downloads in its first 5 days after the June 12 release.

A recent report from the Digitimes indicate first quarter laptop shipments for 2008  showed HP, Dell and Acer were the top 3 laptop manufacturers with 20.8%, 15.1% and 14.6% shares respectively. That represents just over 50% of total shipments or 15.67 Millions units.

Guinness World Records 2008 & Internet Record Breakers

Since I was in high school, I’ve been a fan of the Guinness Book of World Records. In the last couple of years though, I haven’t bought a single copy because most of the stuff are already available online. Still, sometimes it’s more pleasant to sit and and read a book than to stare at the LCD screen. So, during a recent visit to the National Book Store, I grabbed a hardbound copy of the 2008 edition.
