Would you sell you 3-month old blog for $18k?

If you just bought a new domain and put up a blog three months ago then someone wants to buy it from you, would you sell it if they offered $18,000?

How to Increase Your WiFi Signal

Whenever I’m on trips and billeted in wifi-enabled hotels, I still always end up on a floor where the signal is poor or non-existent. Either I go down to the lobby to get some good reception or position really close to the glass windows hoping to sniff a bar or two of wifi signal.

Little did I realize I can actually increase the wifi signal using stuff commonly found around the house. See this YouTube video for a short demo:

Do you trust your Hit Counters?

In the early days, people loved to display a huge block of yellow-over-black hit counter on their website. Up until today, some still do that to show visitors how many hundreds of thousands of visits their site got. Others, just love to use them cute chicklets. For most bloggers, that chicklet has been replaced by the Google/Feedburner subscriber counter button.

For those who still use and display hit counters, did you read the fine print?

Here lies the misinformation…

Been getting a lot of SMS and emails from people all over asking that bloggers should make a stand for Mark Verzo and the harassment he got from the NBI. All hatred points to Sen. Loren Legarda.

Before we go on an all out war, let’s review the facts and the apparent misinformation that’s been going around the blogosphere.

Don’t fall for that Email Collection scam

In the old days, spammers find out about your email by crawling the web and harvesting all email addresses it bumps into. Today, they’ve become more clever and are using a whole new set of tools to grab your emails in a jiffy, and sometimes with a help of your trusted friends.

Here are several ways they employ to gather legit or active email addresses:

How to deal with Lifetime Ads?

I’ve been asked by several bloggers before whether a lifetime ad placement offer is a good deal. Most of the time, publishers would bite on the offer especially when advertising inquiries are scarce.

I haven’t really thought about it much until I was offered the same recently. Took me a week to decide and here’s my basic rule of thumb when faced with a similar offer:

10 Ways to avoid the Boy Bastos Treatment

By now, most of you might have heard of the Boy Bastos news and the search warrant made by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Mark Verzo’s house earlier. Mark is the owner of the site BoyBastos.com and also a blogger who owns a blog network. The portal is currently down as instructed by the authorities.

I won’t talk about any legalese here as I’m not in authority to discuss those issues. From my point of view, and having dealt with people from the NBI before on a similar situation, here are my tips to avoid the same treatment from them.

Pinoy Top Blogs is Changing Hands

After several months of negotiations, I have finally agreed to sell the Pinoy Top Blogs project. It’s a decision that was very hard to make but I figured that the future of the project will be more secured with the new owners.

Several thins prompted me to move into making this decision and I’d like to share that with all bloggers who are involved and been part of the project in the last 2 years.

Hence, the birth of the YugaTech Forums.
