Gigabyte P2542G gaming & U2442N ultrabook launched

In an event yesterday, Gigabyte Philippines unveiled two of their latest creations — the P2452G gaming laptop and the U2442N ultrabook. These two machines according to the company, emanates their vision of a computer with pure performance and less compromise.

First up is the company’s first entry to the local ultrabook scene; the Gigabyte U2442N. This machine packs 14″ HD+ LED display with a 1600 x 900 resolution. It’s currently the second densest display on a 14-inch Ultrabook next to the ASUS UX31A.

This machine takes pride on being capable of handling a Terabyte of hard drive and full set of I/O ports. But the greatest asset of the U2442N lies in its GPU which is the fastest GPU we’ve seen on an Ultrabook. This Ultrabook is powered by an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M GPU w/ GDDR5 2GB VRAM. Here are the other things you should know about the Gigabyte U2442N.

Gigabyte also has something for the gamers. Along with the U2442N, they also unveiled the P2542G gaming laptop. Since there’s a different expectation between the two, the company made sure that they have all their bases covered with this gaming machine. For starters the laptop packs a 15.6″ Full-HD display which backed by the same GPU found in its ultrabook sibling.

For superior performance, the laptop is equipped with a quad-core i7 processor and a RAM capacity that can go up to 16GB. The P2542G also features a full set of speakers to complete the gaming experience.

The P2452 and U2442 will be available by the end of August. The P2452G’s price ranges from its converted SRP of USD1’399- USD1’599 and the U2442N ranges from USD999 – USD1’299 depending on the configuration.

    Ya, I agree with bom, there is no way the u2442n has a GTX 660m. This article is false and should be fixed immediately!!

    Are you sure the graphics is GTX 660M for these laptops? Elsewhere it’s GT 640M. The GTX 660M is already a high end graphics not sure how it will fit within an ultrabook.

    On another note, it’s sad local ultrabooks are priced high as compared to what’s being offered in the US, going around 20-40% markup.

    Good to read this, Abe. They also have the amazing X11 which claims to be the “lightest notebook on earth.” Mahal lang though. Who distributes Gigabyte in the Philippines and where is it available?
