The Asus M4A78 HTPC/RC motherboard was specifically created for a Home Theater PC or a Media PC. As such, it’s has a small form factor (micro-ATX) so your PC chassis can also be smaller to fit right well in the living room.
The motherborad has a AMD 780G/SB700 chipset and supported CPUs include – AMD AM3, AM2+ and AM2 (PhenomII, AthlonII, Phenom, Athlon and Sempron Processors).
Asus M4A78 HTPC/RC features some built-in components you don’t normally get on regular motherboards. The objective here is that you will no longer need the usual add-on cards to support a home entertainment PC. This includes a good audio chip, a built-in video graphics and digital output (HDMI).

The motherboard has an integrated ATI Radeon HD 3200 GPU with a maximum sharable memory of 256MB and support HDMI output of 1920 x 1200 (or 1080p) for full HD video playback . The M4A78-HTPC/RC is the first motherboard that comes with the Asus Absolute Pitch Hi-Fi technology. This utilizes audio components with an independent power connector. It effectively reduces electronic noise to optimize a purer sound quality. Additionally, the gold-plated RCA stereo audio connectors are compatible with amplifiers without requiring additional connectors which allows you to link PCs to home theater equipment easily.

There is an IR (infra-red) port at the back which is hooked up to a wired IR receiver. Another accessory that’s included in the mobo is a wireless IR remote so you can control multimedia functions on the PC system.

Asus bundled a media software called Home Theater Gate which allows you to control multimedia functions on the PC, effectively making your system a media center of sorts. The Asus M4A78 HTPC/RC mobo could have a retail price of around Php5,500 when it officially comes out.
