Th folks from Silverstone sent this huge heat sink for us to check out and use in our next build. The Heligon Series HE01 is one huge heat sink it’s almost as big as a power sully unit (PSU).
The heat sink measures 140mm x 119mm and 160mm so take note than when you use this with your CPU, the PC case will accommodate the added height. The set also comes with a single 140mm colling fan which fits in between the space of the two tower sink.
The cluster of blades are raised quite a bit from the metal contacts for the CPU allowing for ample room for other peripherals near the CPU, like the DIMM slots.
The 140mm cooling fan operates up to 2000rpm and still be able to maintain are fairly silent operation (noise level of 18~41dBA).
According to specs, his heat sink can support CPUs with up to 300 watts power so latest-generation processors like the Intel Core i7 3960X are within specs. It supports most of the CPU sockets — LGA775/1155/1156/1366/2011 and AMD Socket AM2/AM3/FM1/FM2.
The HE01 is made up of six soldered heat-pipe, copper base and aluminum fins. The copper base ensures efficient conductivity of heat from the CPU chip and transfers it to the aluminum fins. There’s the cooling fan blows the air thru it to cool them down.
We’re still not sure if the Silverstone Heligon HE01 is locally available and for how much but we’ve research online to learn that the retail price is in the $74.95 range (or about Php3,100).
