The Phenom II 940 X4 is AMD’s latest and supposedly fastest quad core CPU yet. Checked out our CPU test results and see how it fares in our benchmarks.
Our test PC for this review is as follows:

AMD Phenom II 940 X4 @ 3.0 GHz
Kingston 2GB DDR2 800MHz RAM
MSI K9A2VM-F V2
Asus ENGTX275
Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit

Since the Phenom II 940 is a black edition, the CPU is unlocked and can be easily overclocked. I didn’t have the essential materials so I wasn’t able to do this.
The AMD Phenom II X4 940 has a suggested retail price of Php12,200 at PC Bodega. That’s around 40% to 45% cheaper than a similar counterpart (Q9950 @.283GHz) with Intel.

How about intel’s core i7?
What was the bios version you used for this motherboard?
I’ve searched the msi website and they don’t show this CPU supported on their list.
Additionally, I know the phenom ii x3 720 was supported with the bios 7302v13, but since then disappeared from the list.
Thank you.
Ik have this mobo 2.
with an athlon 6000 x2, but can i place this Phenom II X4 940, with the latest bios, without problems?
