Symantec expands security, adds Android to the mix

The company behind Norton Antivirus applied their security expertise to bring Android users the same protection that they have on their PC and a peace of mind for business owners by keeping the workplace secured.

As mobile devices such as Smartphones and Tablets become ever more capable of handling tasks as the traditional PC, some companies have already adopted the idea of Bring-Your-Own-Device principle in their offices.

However, this move makes life a bit harder for IT personnel to manage these devices and keep the workplace safe from virus threats.

This is where Symantec’s products come into play by providing security solutions for the enterprise environment. From establishing a secured wireless connection (Symantec Mobile Management), email management (Symantec PGP viewer) down to securely installing applications (Nukona App Center with FIPS 140-2 Certification), Symantec has your workplace covered with a range of products that would enable seamless management of each device in the workplace.

This product is for enterprise only and not for home users.

It’s not AV perse for android devices, more of a management tool for IT admins/sysads/secads to control the contents of corporate android devices.

McAfee already acquired the same technology last year..Symantec is trailing behind :)
