5.5-inch octa-core Xiaomi Redmi Note confirmed

Chinese phone manufacturer Xiaomi confirmed entering the phablet scene with the Redmi Note (Redmi‘s successor) which will be available for pre-orders in less than a week.

This confirmation came from a teaser picture from the company showing that the device features a spacious 5.5-inch display and would be open for bookings in China this coming March 19.

So far, known specs regarding the Xiaomi Redmi Note include:

5.5-inch display (720p resolution)
1.4GHz or 1.7GHz octa-core processor
13MP rear, 5MP front cameras

The company hasn’t revealed pricing as of yet, but instead they’re letting people guess and would give away 50 Redmi Notes for those who get the price tags right.

Xiaomi has been known to price their devices competitively. We remember how the Xiaomi Redmi, priced at $133 (approx. Php5,938), was sold out in Singapore in just 8 minutes — that kind of price point is what we’re looking forward to, here. Engadget predicts it will be around $160 (approx Php7,144).

We’re still waiting on the date as to when it will be available outside China.
