9-inch HTC Nexus tablet reveals specs ahead of launch

About two months ago, we‘ve posted a rumor of an 8.9-inch Nexus tablet that HTC might be manufacturing. Those rumors weren’t far off as another leak shows exactly that, while also having a list of specs and even pricing to go with it.

HTC Nexus 9 (Volantis) specs:
8.9-inch display @ 2048 x 1440 resolution, 218 ppi
64-bit NVIDIA Logan processor (Tegra K1)
2GB RAM
16/32GB storage
8MP rear camera with OIS
3MP front camera
Stereo front-facing speakers
8.91 x 5.98 x 0.31 inches
418 grams (Wi-Fi only) 427 grams (LTE)

The new Nexus tablet, called Volantis, was reported to come in an aluminium zero-gap form factor with tapered sides and a powerful Tegra K1 processor. We could be looking at around $399 (approx. Php17,500) for the 16GB model and $499 (approx. Php22,000) for the 32GB variant. These are the Wi-Fi only versions, though, and having LTE connectivity might set you back to $600 (approx. Php26,000) at the least.

Originally pegged for a June release, the source points out that we might be seeing this tablet around the last quarter of 2014 before Android Silver is expected to debut its program in 2015. To those wishing for another HTC-made Nexus device, what do you think of the Volantis?

Hope its priced like a Nexus too… HTC products are usually priced higher. Then again this would be a Nexus with a next generation processor unlike the 2 Nexus 7 which came out with dated (not exactly rubbish though) processors. Guess now it will be the new Nexus vs the new Shield for my next device.

The Nexus 7 weren’t dated at their release.
The just didn’t use the best specs of the time because they had to be affordable. They were better than the Samsung tabs

Kung HTC warranty niyan, pass ako. HTC Philippines Customer Service sucks big time. I have a phone with them that has been languishing for 2 months now and counting. All because they are “wating” for parts to arrive. W T F???? Ang liit ng piyesa and it takes them that long to import it from probably Taiwan??? Don’t tell me it’s faster to import a used car from the USA??? Sinong niloloko nila? Tsk. Tsk. HTC sucks.

Acc to Wikipedia there are 2 Tegra K1 chips

    Tegra K1[59] Cortex-A15 4core 2.3 Ghz
    Tegra K1 Project Denver (64-bit) 2core 2.5 Ghz

The latter supports max 8 GiB (with 40-bit address extension) memory, while the former only supports up to max 4 GiB memory
