AMD, Qualcomm team up to bring Ryzen-powered, always connected devices

AMD announced today that they are working with fellow semiconductor giant Qualcomm to bring thin and light notebooks powered by Ryzen mobile processors and Qualcomm Snapdragon LTE modems to the market.

“Qualcomm Technologies believes the Always Connected PC is the future of personal computing, and we are working with AMD to bring each company’s expertise to bear for these exciting products,” Alex Katouzian, senior vice president and general manager of mobile at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. said in a statement.

Earlier today, we saw ASUS and HP unveil their own Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 based solutions that bring Gigabit LTE connectivity to the laptop segment. There is definitely an upcoming trend for always connected laptops, which we should start to see in the coming year.
