Asus Padfone coming; hitting the Php40k mark

While Computex 2012 is still two weeks away, we’re definitely looking forward to get a hold of the Asus Padfone that was showcased from last year’s event. It’s already being sold in Taiwan and might soon hit store shelves in the Philippines as well.

The Padfone took its inspiration in the Asus Transformer line (we bought each of those two models and liked them a lot) and pushed the design further to incorporate a smartphone as the core device that powers the tablet.

SO what you get for the whole package is the 4.3-inch Super AMOLED smartphone, a 10.1-inch shell tablet, a full-qwerty keyboard dock and a stylus headset.

Asus Padfone specs:
4.3″ Super AMOLED display @ 540×960 pixels
Gorilla Glass
Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 8260A dual-core 1.5GHz
Adreno 225 GPU
1GB RAM
16GB, 32GB and 64GB internal storage
up to 32GB via microSD
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth 4.0
HSPA+ 42Mbps
8MP autofocus camera, LED flash, f/2.2
GPS w/ aGPS support
1520mAh Li-Ion battery
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
128 x 65.4 x 9.2mm

PadFone Station
10.1-inches, WXGA 1280×800, TFT with capacitive multi-touch panel
Corning Gorilla Glass with HCLR Film
273 x 176.9 x 13.55 mm (WxDxH)
24.4 Whr/6600 mAh Lithium

Estimated retail price of the Asus Padfone will depend which components you get but for starters, the Padfone and tablet will set you back around Php35k while the whole set which includes the keyboard dock and the stylus headset can go for as much as Php40k. Of course you can still buy them separately. These are Taiwan street prices though so the Philippine price could either be lower or higher than that.

We’ll just have to wait and see once it hits the Philippines by 3rd quarter of this year.

When you say “factory unlocked” does that mean we can use it here in the Phil even if bought from US? Thanks!

The device is great. Almost all of the new gadgets are great if it is not only the price……

In the recent times, you should first consider the price before the specs……

    And it’s so sad…. :(

would it really be that worth it knowing there are already 4.7 inch quad core phones coming in?

    Just thinking

Speed is nothing when its using the old A9 cortex architecture. The Snapdragon S4 is faster than tegra 3 even though its just dual core, because its using the latest A15 Architecture.

but are you really willing to shell out 30-40k for this?

    • Avatar for Eason Eason says:

      40k for a 3-1 device well yes.

Considering that you just have one device that is high in specs that turns into a tablet and a netbook. With battery life that is up to 100+ hours.

You save time in transferring files since its just one device, and you save data cost since its also just one device.

The perfect long term phone in my honest opinion
