Cherry Mobile Fusion Bolt: Quad-core tablet for Php3,999

So Cherry Mobile finally revealed that quad-core tablet which they’re been teasing us for a week now. It’s almost the same Ainol Venus but they called it the Cherry Mobile Fusion Bolt.

The specs were slightly changed to a 1.0GHz quad-core instead of 1.5GHz and the internal storage is just 8GB instead of 16GB. This separates the Fusion Bolt from the regular Ainol Venus that’s out in the market.

I’ll consider this if they could just develop a keyboard dock like ASUS transformer pad series! :)

I won’t hesitate leaving this inside my office desk drawer as well hehehe

If you want to play games, I suggest you buy an xbox or ps3 or even a ps vita.

Sige, mag suggest ka ng better tablet under 4,000.

    • Avatar for techatbp techatbp says:

yup, its a piece of junk, pero wala kang karapatan mag reklamo since 4k lang to.

    • Avatar for raragasana raragasana says:

as i mentioned in my previous comment, the CPU of this ATM7029 is not really an A9 but a tweaked A5. techinically, a dual core A9 will run much better than this quad-core A5. and when i researched the GC1000 GPU, i can’t find any good reviews about it. binalak ko din bilhin to pero naparesearch ako sa CPU nya kasi ngaun ko lng nakita tong ATM7029 (haven’t used an Ainol product before). ndi nmn po naninira sa cherry, in fact i also have a cherry mobile titan and i am very happy with it. ndi din kasalanan ng Cherry na iadvertise to as Quad Core A9 Proc kasi un din ang binigay na information sa kanila ng OEM which is Ainol. gus2 ko lng mainform ung mga taong nagbabalak na bumili nito so they’ll know what to expect from their 4K pesos. again don’t expect this device to properly run high-end games. still a good catch for 4k kung pang browse, FB, videos, pdf/epub/comics and some basic games sa android. good luck all and have fun! peace!

      Pipo S1 selling @ 4.3K

has a Rockhip 3066 Dual Core A9 with a monster Quad Core GPU Mali 400
7in din ang screen pero 800×400 lng ang resolution

so it’s your pick: a tablet with crappy CPU / GPU but has a very nice screen or one with an average screen but has a monster CPU and GPU

    • Avatar for rui rui says:

      > so it’s your pick: a tablet with crappy CPU / GPU but has a very nice screen or one with an average screen but has a monster CPU and GPU

Lol, 800×480 is not an average screen, that’s crappy. Merong RK3066-based tablets with 1024×600 resolution for ~$100 from online Chinese retailers. Those should work much better for gaming. If you want 1280×800 resolution for reading ebooks, comics, etc, though, the Cherry Mobile Fusion Bolt is probably the cheapest tablet you can get. May Ainol Novo7 Venus Lite with almost the same specs as the Fusion Bolt, mas malaki lang internal storage (ATM7025 1.0GHz, 1GB RAM, 16GB ROM) but the lowest price I’ve seen for that is still $130.

The Novo7 Venus doesn’t have Bluetooth, GPS or NFC so malamang, wala rin yung Fusion Bolt. Mahina rin yung wi-fi niya. Since I just use mine for comics (via microSD), I just disabled the wi-fi which really helps with battery life. I haven’t really run any battery tests but with my usage, battery life seems comparable to the Nexus 7. Kahit 32GB microSD lang yung supported sa specs, I’ve tested the Venus with a SanDisk 64GB microSDXC (formatted as exFAT) and it works just fine.

On the latest Venus firmware (0203), AnTuTu 3.1.1 score is around 10,000.

so pag mura ang isang product ibig sabihin kelangan expected na shit rin ung performance?… syempre when someone teases you quad core tablet, mas common mag HOPE ng good performance in games like GTA….

ako mas pinapansin ko ung specs kaysa price, i’m happy to find out now na hindi pla ganun kgnda performance nya rather than pagkabili then ko plang malalaman

    • Avatar for rui rui says:

You get what you pay for… Unfortunately, the quad-core in the ATM7025/9 is more of a marketing gimmick. They used the Cortex A5 which is power efficient but much slower than the Cortex A9. You’ll get much better performance with a dual-core Cortex A9 (e.g. Rockchip RK3066).

However, not everyone buys tablets with gaming in mind. Kung para sa email, web browsing, Facebook, ebooks and comics lang, hindi na ‘to masama para sa 4K.

    • Avatar for johnlove johnlove says:

      Thanks for the review.
At least I know what games to avoid, saves me a lot of time and effort.
While this tablet has shortcomings, I still expect it to sell, because this is the time when the masses are beginning to communicate thru facebook and emails.
And P4,000 is a good price.

    • Avatar for KimiKimi KimiKimi says:

Dont you dare critize CM and any of their product, or you’ll go down facing the wrath of their over zealous fans.. Kidding

      to simply put it..

  16. Avatar for Richard Richard says:

bibigyan ko yan ng 1 week pagkadating ubos na yan sa market. After a month, isang barangay nakapila sa service center nila.

For me masyado lang na hhype na “Quad-Core” daw yung device, eh in benchmark results mas mabilis pa nga yung ibang dual core eh.

Saka I had it with Cherry Mobile, after 3 months bagsak presyo tapos nagpaservice na ako once at inabot ako ng 4 months bago makuha ang unit.

    • Avatar for coachjojoc coachjojoc says:

How right you are. My driver’s Cherry phone took all of 4 months to repair. Their reason? Walang parts available.

And when he finally got it, the phone lasted 2 months before biting the dust.

And the marketing head of the biggest appliance chain stores in the country tells me that Cherry products have a return rate of 30% which is why they do not carry their product lines.

    • Avatar for coachjojoc coachjojoc says:

Ooohhh… a Cherry Mobile employee speaks.

Say what you want…the return rate is 30% and the biggest appliance chain refuses to carry it.

      ‘Nuff said

    • Avatar for someone someone says:

      @coachjojoc

Return ba because of defect, user negligence, o simpleng return lang kasi nakapili sila ng iba.

Probably kaya ayaw ni “biggest appliance chain” sa cherry mobile, is because maliit lang yung margin na kikitain nila dito. Or the other way around, ayaw ng Cherry Mobile dito sa “biggest appliance chain” kasi marami na silang CM stores / kiosk.

    • Avatar for ronald ronald says:

That big appliance chain also sell cheap products that break easily. Cherry also does not need that big appliance chain. Its the other way around. The sales speak for themselves.

    • Avatar for coachjojoc coachjojoc says:

Hindi naman siguro 30% ang return rate ng mga ibang (as you call it)cheap products that break easily.

      Caveat emptor!

    • Avatar for Mike M Mike M says:

      @angel
Actually, they offer better services for non-Android phones. I experienced a similar fate with CM with 2 identical Android phones (forgot it but it was a dual sim one) and both has a touchscreen problem. Took them almost half a year to get fixed. And even blamed me for something I didn’t do. Time I had those phones were max 2 weeks upon purchase palang.

      @someone/ronald
In business, it is definitely not that CM doesn’t need that particular “Biggest Appliance Chain” because everyone needs to have a new client, and I’m pretty sure CM need it. But most probably CM can’t offer what the Appliance Chain needs, terms. :) OT na po eto in terms of the topic.

      @Coachjojoc
Acceptable RMA rate is only 3% if I recall the International Standards. Hopefully we can get a light on the 30% RMA rate. That’s no joke of a number. That’s basically 900% of the Industry’s standards and 30 out of 100 units are defective or highly susceptible to breakage.

    • Avatar for Richard Richard says:

So Angel pag entry level phone okay lang masira?

FYI any product dapat may QC (QUALITY CHECK) = Standards!

So meaning hindi dapat nasisira ang product in a manner where marami nakaka-experience. okay lang yung less that 5% of the total shipped in. Pero promise and I even DARE anyone to go to a Cherry Mobile Kiosk and wait for 1-2 hours, I assure you that there will always be a complainant.

I like the Screen and Expansion, but if you actually see deeper how its made possible to be 3,995 then okay…at least you understand what you are buying.

    • Avatar for ronald ronald says:

Did you all see the long lines of people to buy this tablet from cherry mobile? It is ike the pinoy version of people waiting outside an apple store when a new device comes out. Cherry Mobile is laughing all the way to the bank and does not care about your opinions or mine either.

  17. Avatar for rui rui says:

Very good pricing. Cheaper than buying the Venus Lite from Chinese online retailers. Baka pabili ako sa tita ko when she goes to PH on vacation para may back-up ako.

I have both the Nexus 7 and Ainol Novo7 Venus. I was using the Nexus 7 for Japanese manga but the lack of microSD slot was a nuisance so I bought the Venus. The Venus has the same nice 1280*800 IPS display and it works with Perfect Viewer just fine. No lags or anything. Chrome is a bit laggy, though. Despite the advertised 1.5GHz for the Venus, actual clock is just 1.2GHz so the performance difference between the “1.5GHz” Venus and 1.0GHz Cherry Mobile shouldn’t be that big.

It’s no good for 3D gaming, though. While GPU performance is a bit weak, the real issue is the Vivante GC1000 graphics doesn’t have good game support. Better stick to Tegra, Adreno, Mali or PowerVR.

  18. Avatar for raragasana raragasana says:

did a quick google about this tablet’s CPUand found lots of negative infos. they say that ATM7029 is not really an A9 but is actually a tweaked A5. you can do your own research. but i think it is still pretty good since it’s just @ 4k pesos. not to blame Cherry Mobile with the specs, nilalagay lng nila ung binigay na specs sa kanila ng OEM (Ainol)..
