Cherry Mobile Fusion Bolt: Quad-core tablet for Php3,999

So Cherry Mobile finally revealed that quad-core tablet which they’re been teasing us for a week now. It’s almost the same Ainol Venus but they called it the Cherry Mobile Fusion Bolt.

The specs were slightly changed to a 1.0GHz quad-core instead of 1.5GHz and the internal storage is just 8GB instead of 16GB. This separates the Fusion Bolt from the regular Ainol Venus that’s out in the market.

Cherry Mobile Fusion Bolt specs:
7-inch IPS LCD 720p HD display @ 1280×800 pixels
Actions Semiconductor ATM7025 ARM Cortex A9 1.0GHz quad-core
1GB DDR3 RAM
8GB internal storage
up to 32GB via microSD
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
2MP rear camera
0.3MP front-facing camera
Li-Ion 4,000mAh battery
Android 4.1 Jellybean
186.2mm x 126.9mm x 10.8mm (dimensions)
320 grams (weight)

The most surprising part is that they will sell this tablet for only Php3,999. Not bad!

Release and availability is sometime in March 2013.

P.S. You can read our story about the quad-core CPU and dual-core GPU used in this tablet here.

I bought my unit about 3 weeks ago. And so far it has given me what I have paid for. However, last night i dropped it on the floor and the LCD was immediately broken. Does anyone know if the 1yr warranty covers such damages? Or is CM open for repairs? Thank you.

I’m specifically interested in getting this tablet so that my parents can Skype with my Sister and her family in the States. Can anyone give an opinion on this or has anyone tried doing this with a similar tablet?

My concern is that the video won’t be so great, especially with that 0.3MP front facing camera, but maybe it works well enough for the price?

Also can this tablet access google play?

Got the FUBO last march 27 regalo for my nephew the tablet is not bad at all, it is the best of its price..the display was so nice that samsung tab 7.0 and ipad mini will be put on shame. Sa games, depende kung that game was optimized with quad cores or not..may issue kasi sa NFSMW umpisa palang basag-basag na ang windshield incompatibility with Vivante GPU..surprisingly it can play NBA 2013 and Shadow gun which RK3066 chips could not. but don’t expect too much for a 4K tablet,If you could afford to buy those higher end tablets it is your choice.CM only provided a better alternative,if you already have your Ipad’s or Nexus 7’s or Samsung galaxy tab’s be happy with it and be thankful you have the capacity to buy your gadgets. This CM FUBO is for the first time tablet buyers and for those content and happy to have a very good display for reading and mobile video viewing. This FUBO not for hardcore gamers, after all it depends kung anu nga ba pagamitan mo sa tablet mo?

Which is better the Cheery Mobile Tornado or the Cheery Mobile Fusion Bolt? Please I need your opinion.

    • Avatar for rui rui says:

Tornado is single-core. Even if the Fusion Bolt performs more like a dual-core than a quad-core, it should still perform better than the Tornado.

    i need your opinion guys

namimili ako sa pipo s3 o fusion bolt?

    alin kaya ang bibilhin ko?

    • Avatar for rui rui says:

If you don’t need the 1280*800 resolution and can live with the 1024*600 on the Pipo S3, the Pipo is the better choice. The Pipo S3’s Rockchip RK3066 with dual-core Cortex A9 1.6GHz CPU and Mali 400 MP4 GPU performs better and is better supported than the CM Fusion Bolt’s Actions ATM7029/5 with quad-core Cortex A5 1GHz CPU and Vivante GC1000 GPU.

That said, the ATM7029/5 offers decent performance as long as you’re not using it for gaming. Menu transitions at 1280*800 are smooth and the UI is fairly lag-free.

    • Avatar for manny manny says:

In much the same way, two-way radio rental offers businesses and individuals substantial savings in money, time and resources that equipment ownership never will.

Even major manufacturers aren’t exempt from making the occasional bad product. Remember the case of the exploding laptop batteries (manufactured by Sony and used by Apple, HP, Dell, etc)? The difference is how they handle customer support. That’s one nice thing about Apple. Bring your iOS device to them and if it has a hardware defect (na hindi mo kasalanan) and the product is still under warranty, they give you a new unit (well, refurbished actually), no questions asked.

As for longevity, unfortunately, I have no idea how good Ainol’s QC is. Device feels pretty solid, though and mine survived a couple of drops to carpeted floor. Alas, as mentioned above, I managed to break the screen with an elbow jab.

Pro: nice high resolution, high pixel density display, decent battery life, unofficial support for 64GB microSDXC
Con: weak wifi, weak CPU/GPU, bad for 3D gaming

    GETS? =)

Tungkol sa build quality? Ito po ba ay pwede na or solid?
Kasi kung bibili ako nito.. More or less laging on the go po ako.
At gagamitin ko sya pang basa ng email at pag take ng notes.
    Thanks!

I wouldn’t really count on longevity. You never really know with these China tablets. On the upside, at least you guys have local support with Cherry Mobile. I bought the Venus from an online retailer in China and despite the 1-year warranty I’m not really expecting to get any support aside from DOA issues.

By the way, I managed to crack the screen on my Venus. Nadulas ako while getting up from the sofa and nabagsakan ko ng medyo malakas ng siko yung screen. Touchscreen’s not working anymore. However, it did survive a 4-foot drop from my desk to a carpeted floor prior. Kaasar. Siya pa man din favorite ko ngayon for reading manga among my tablets (and I happen to have a Nexus 7, Excite 7.7, Transformer Infinity and iPad 3 & 4).
