Cherry Mobile Venus Quad Core Tablet Specs

Listen to article

We got it on good authority that the upcoming 7-inch quad core tablet that Cherry Mobile teased us earlier could be a re-branded Ainol Novo 7 Venus.

We spotted one unit of the Venus being sold in the gray market for Php10k a couple of weeks ago but the supposed retail price should have been around Php6,900.

The biggest giveaway here is the similar Venus photo that Cherry Mobile showed in their teaser.

The tablet uses an Actions Semiconductor ATM 7029 SoC running at 1.5GHz. Here’s the complete specs of the device.

Cherry Mobile Quad Core tablet:
7-inch IPS LCD 720p HD display @ 1280×800 pixels
Actions Semiconductor ATM7029 ARM Cortex A9 1.5GHz quad-core
1GB DDR3 RAM
16GB internal storage
up to 32GB via microSD
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
2MP rear camera
0.3MP front-facing camera
Li-IOn 4,000mAh battery
Android 4.1 Jellybean
186.2mm x 126.9mm x 10.8mm (dimensions)
320 grams (weight)

It is not the first time that Cherry Mobile brought an Ainol tablet to the country and released it under its own brand. The last time we remember, they also re-branded the Ainol Novo 7 Paladin as the Cherry Mobile Paladin. It’s also possible they will call this one the Cherry Mobile Venus.

If so, and based on previous track record of Cherry Mobile, we might see this quad-core tablet selling for about Php6,500 or thereabouts.

“Actions Semiconductor ATM7029 ARM Cortex A9 1.5GHz quad-core”

Correction!!!

The Action Semi SOC in Venus uses the slower ARM Cortex A5 and NOT the A9.

Antutu benchmark:
Quad-Core A5 (Venus): 6000+
Dual-Core A9 (Crystal): 7000+

Benchmark the tablet before you buy…

You’re very right. The Nexus 7 Is the best Android tablet. Hopefully the second gfeneratioin of Nexus 7 will feature 2 or 3GB RAM, storage memory of up to 128GB, 8 or 13MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, 1080 HD video recording, the newest NVDIA Tegra 4 processor, and Corning Gorilla Glass 2.On the other hand though, there’s still the Nexus 10.

I surmise the target market for this product are those who can’t afford or who wish to afford tablets in the P7,000 range. The Nexus 7 is at least I believe around P12,000. So people who are interested in this are those willing to get their money’s worth at 7-8k but refuse to pay more. Otherwise if price is really irrelevant, then correct Nexus 7 it is.

This is great news! Gray market selling novo7 venus at 10k is very unfair. If they sell this at below 8k, I’ll definitely buy it..

At only less than 400 as well as the questionable customers service of CM, is it really worth getting this than the Ainol itself. Regarding the specs, was the Paladin by CM really the same with the original Ainol?

Yes, I understand your concern but consider this — Ainol does not have a Service Center here but CM does, even if the lines are very long.

As for the paladin, what CM did was requested Ainol to use their logo instead.

Im really bothered by the extremely long (super long) lines ng service centers ng cherry mobile. Tapos local tech websites would always review their products and nakakatakot lang.

After sales…try looking at the complaints here https://www.facebook.com/cherrymobilesupport?fref=ts … but you can escalate with NTC as well…
