Computex: Acer Iconia Tab A700

Listen to article

Spotted at the booth of NVidia is the Acer Iconia Tab A700 running on Tegra 3. Acer was the first one to announce a full HD 1080p display so the Iconia Tab A700 certainly got a lot of buzz then.

Around the time when it was announced in CES 2012, it was the only tablet that has a full HD 1080p screen. However, around this time a lot of tablets have already gone 1080p with the new iPad 3 leading the pack for a much higher resolution.

This trend could have fizzled whatever head-start Acer got back in January. Nevertheless, the hardware configuration couple with really good pricing could still help the tablet a lot of buyers (the first Acer Android tablet released last year was priced under Php20k).

Acer Iconia Tab A700 specs:
10.1-inch LCD display @ 1080p (1920×1080 pixels), 224ppi
NVidia Tegra 3 1.3GHz quad-core processor
1GB RAM
16GB, 32GB, 64GB internal storage
WiFi 802.1 b/g/n
Bluetooth 3.0
5MP rear camera with 720p video recording
Android 4.0 ICS
9800mAh Li-Ion battery
649 grams (weight)

Aside from being snappy and responsive, I noticed the tablet is still a bit heavy and thick on the side. I remember this was also one of the issues in the first 10-inch Iconia tab.

We’re still unsure when Acer Philippines will bring the Iconia A700 to the Philippines but we hope it will be really soon since competition is heating up.
