Dell launches XPS 12 convertible ultrabook

Dell has successfully launched the newest member of its XPS brand of computers – the XPS 12 convertible Ultrabook.

The Dell XPS 12 is not just a regular touch screen-enabled Ultrabook that runs Windows 8. It’s actually an Ultrabook that can transform into a tablet by utilizing a flip hinge located on both sides of the display. As for other features, the XPS 12 has a Full HD IPS display, full-size backlit keyboards, Corning Gorilla Glass, machined aluminum body, and carbon fiber lid and bottom.

For first impressions, the Dell XPS 12 feels like a top-grade device thanks to its aluminum body and carbon fiber lid. The interior of the device has a beautiful rubber matte finish to it, however, the backlit chiclet keys feels plasticky. As for the display, the 1080p IPS screen looks vibrant and crisp with great viewing angles. The edge-to-edge Corning Gorilla Glass is a big advantage but still attracts smudges and fingerprints. In tablet mode, the XPS 12 looks like a large and thick tablet. It weighs 3.5 lbs so it’s a bit heavy to carry around.

Dell XPS 12 Ultrabook specs:
12.6-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) WLED IPS display (400-nit)
Edge-to-edge Corning Gorilla Glass
3rd Gen Intel Core (Ivy Bridge) i5-3317U, 2.6 GHz

I think the video card spec is wrong. Intel HD 4000 does not have dedicated memory.

This seems like a great new innovation! I hope it sells like hotcakes so there will be more competition so the prices would go down. Hahaha!
