MSI FR600-3D is cheapest 3D laptop

Listen to article

Looks like MSI also got their own 3D capable laptop, the MSI FR600-3D, and is selling it at under Php40k which makes it the cheapest 3D laptop around.

MSI FR600-3D
15.6″ 3D LCD display @ 1366×768 pixels
Intel Core i5-430 @ 2.26GHz (Turbo Boost up to 2.53GHz)
2GB DDR3 RAM
Intel HD Graphics
500GB SATA HDD
Super-Multi DVD Drive
HD webcam
GigaBit LAN
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
HDMI port
2 x USB 2.0 ports
eSATA port (USB 2.0 combo)
6-cell Li-ion battery
Windows 7 Premium

The specs actually seemed pretty basic and might not be fit for hard core gaming so I’m assuming the 3D display is geared towards watching 3D movies or videos.

The package comes with a single 3D glasses and another clip-on 3D glasses. There’s a software bundle (Roxio Cineplayer) that can transfer 2D videos to 3D movies when viewed with the 3D glasses.

The unit has been revealed as early as 4th quarter of last year but has only arrive in local stores recently with a suggested retail price of Php39,990.

I wonder how the Intel Graphics performs on this 3D laptop. I wish there is a Windows Performance Index.

Why would you need 3D on laptops?

I’m not salivating for anything 3D.

It’s a nice laptop for hardcore gamers. I especially like the packaged 3D glasses. It’s sad that MSI will release another version of this w/in 2-3 months, which makes this particular product not so special anymore.

well just an advice to you guys, esp to the ones who are interested in buying this laptop.

Dont expect to much in the high def video frequencies and gaming. Its bcoz of the lack of a graphics card, instead they just put in an intel hd graphics which is like a grapuics card but its already stored in the processor itself. And thats why the price is so unreal.. You’ll have a good laptop but not a good 3D laptop =))

intel hd? what a shame…
even a low-end, integrated GPU from AMD or Nvidia can beat that weakling GPU.

i hope that every manufacturer should ditch the use of Intel HD for those high-end laptops. High-end laptops do not deserve to have such weak GPU like Intel HD. Yes,Intel HD does not guzzle much power but it guzzles the patience of a user.

the specs are nice except for the graphics card.. what would an Intel HD graphics can do in 3D viewing? This laptop is definitely for gaming but with that video card?? nah… I guess that’s the reason why the price is way too cheap for a 3d laptop =))

…..I meant to say “electronic shutter glasses like those used in viewing 3D content from Blu-ray movies and PS3 games on a 3D-LED monitor”.

These laptops can also be set in 2D mode. the 3D effect is mostly for certain movies and games.

Also, that MSI laptop utilizes the polarized version of 3D instead of electronic shutter glasses used in newer Blu-ray players and PS3, hence the lower price.

The 3d is becoming more in demand because of the features that it has in display. I hope that the price will be more affordable. http://iloveyou-mydear.blogspot.com/
