MSI Wind PC gets priced

Earlier this month, we discovered the MSI Wind PC as the desktop version of the popular netbooks. The Atom-based mini desktop PC is MSI’s answer to the expensive Asus Eee Box.

The MSI Wind PC isn’t really that small but for the retail price of Php14,995 I still find it a bit on the expensive side.

MSI Wind PC

The specs:

Intel Atom N230 1.6GHz
Intel 945GC + ICH7 Chipset
1GB DDR2 RAM
Lite-On Super Multi-DVD Drive
Gigabit LAN
802.11 b/g
160GB SATA II HDD
4-in-1 card reader
6 USB 2.0 ports
7-channel HD Audio

Nettop’s should be priced below Php10,000 IMO for it to be a really convincing product. I’m sure the current players will realize this and cut their prices just before the holidays (we can only hope).

We’ll just have to wait for the holiday season to really kick in, prices would most likely be slashed down by then.

i hope there will be a more bare-bones version without the dvd drive and wifi card. i am really looking at a mini-server for a home setup. :)

    ciao!

Of course, the LCD monitor (in the picture) isn’t included in the price. Or is it?

    @Arnold – nope, it’s not.
