First shown back in May 2010, MSI’s Windows 7 powered tablet — the WindPad W100 — has now landed in the Philippines. Got the note from MSI reps yesterday and am expecting a review unit tomorrow.

However, Villman has also posted the WindPad W100 with a retail price of Php29,995.

Hmmmm. I heard through the grapevine that there’s going to be a launch event this weekend at SM Manila for the Windpad? I hope yung Android version nandon din!

@ comment 17: A quick check reveals a Capacitive screen, not a resistive one.

Hardware won’t be a problem – touch screen response and sensitivity as the device uses essentially the same hardware as competing capacitive tablets. Yes, that includes the iPad.

Same for speed and power – the components used (Atom Z530, 2GB DDR, GMA500 graphics, even a 32GB SSD) is on par or faster than most other tablet specs, even the iPad’s A4 core + PowerVR 535 combo. The Atom Z530 may be a slowpoke in the world of desktops and full laptops, but it’s a veritable tiger in the tablet scene.

The sole catch to all this is Windows 7. It is not at all designed primarily for tablet / touch use, thus user-friendliness will be a bit lower down the scale. People expecting the point-and-swipe ease of an iPad will probably be disappointed, unless MSI pulls a rabbit out of its voluminous sleeve and produce an excellent Touch user interface.

However, people who want the flexibility and the power of a full Operating System (with capital letters yan!), and in agreement with comment #14, wants a portable device for *serious work* will probably be wise to consider this product.

for me i have to wait nlang ung E301 Identity Tab may sim slot pa and for sure its more cheaper. ung e201 is around 15thou(7inch,not 3g)

I agree that the price is slightly north of the Ipad considering this is the one it is competing against. For that amount (29k) I’d buy a 3g version.

Kaya lang naman medyo mahal ay dahil sa OS niya… Pero kung ileless yung price ng OS, mura pa rin kung tutuusin yung presyo niya…

I agree… Apple iPad or any Android 2.2/2.3 tablet is better than this, and even any Windows 7-based ATOM slates.

I will still consider buying a netbook than this tablet, because it’s much! cheaper and with a keyboard you can do your working easily. I will also prefer buying an ipad since it’s much cheaper and apple’s touch screen sensitivity and responsiveness is just perfect.
