Asus is going all out with Intel in this year’s Computex line-up here in Taiwan. The new Asus MemoPad 8 (ME581CL) is perhaps among the first 64-bit Intel Atom Moorefield quad-core tablet to be announced.
The tablet is also very thin at just 7.45mm on the side and weighs 299 grams. The Asus MemoPad ME581CL runs on a new Moorefield chip that supports its own XMM 7260 LTE modem.
Asus MemoPad 8 (ME581CL) specs:
8-inch IPS LCD display @ 1200×1920 pixels
Corning Gorilla Glass 3
Intel Atom Z3580 @ 2.3GHz quad-core processor
2GB RAM
16GB internal storage
WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac
LTE 300Mbps
Bluetooth 4.0, BLE
5MP rear camera
1.2MP front-facing camera
15.2Wh Li-Po battery (up to 9 hours)
Android 4.4 Kitkat
The device also comes with a free 5GB Asus WebStorage for life with additional 11GB on the first year. We’re looking forward to that Intel Atom Z3580 chip and see how it performs against the top chips from Qualcomm.
Expect the MemoPad 8 to be priced at a premium, perhaps between Php15k to Php20k and be released sometime in 3rd quarter of 2014.
does it support SD Card for storage expansion? how about OTG?
“free 5GB Asus WebStorage for life”
Gosh BOX, Onedrive DROPbox and Google Drive have been giving 5 GB free for years now :)
Nice but too expensive, for 20k you could have an ipad or sony tablet..
But this looks to beat all the ipads in performance/productivity and is much cheaper than the xperia tablets with LTE? But i agree its nice and good looking too, hope asus releases a non LTE model as LTE is expensive and coverage is spotty here in the philippines… If it has calling capabilities then it can retain its LTE…
