Poll: Which portable HDD do you use?

A couple months ago, my 160GB WD Passport portable HDD crashed. I’m not sure what files I’ve lost along with it. I only got the chance to buy a new one last week — a Samsung S2 320GB.

I was wondering, and since I don’t trust Western Digital’s portable HDD (I still have the 500GB WD MyBook from 2 years ago), which of the current set of mobile disk drives people commonly use these days.

We’ve got a bunch of them available:

  • Western Digital My Passport
  • Freecom Mobile Drive XXS
  • Seagate FreeAgent Go
  • Samsung S2
  • Iomega Portable Hard Drive
  • Transcend StoreJet
  • Toshiba USB 2.0 Portable HDD
  • LaCie
  • Buffalo MiniStation
  • Fujitsu

Please submit your vote on the Poll section at the sidebar on the right or leave a comment below with your experience with mobile HDDs.

WD 250GB. Storage for my *pirated* movies/tv series. Been with him for a year now. No problems so far.

Considering of buying WD’s 1TB. Sadly, *as another comment said* it’s only available in the US atm.

For me…. all of the portable HDD are the same… But I’d rather buy the one that produces and manufacturers hard disk like Seagate and WD…… I will have to say NOOOOO to Buffalo, that is the worst HDD Ive ever encountered seriously!

EXCELLENT Philips casing, with clip on metal casing (but with plastic inner hull, where HD can be screwed in….PHP900 in virra mall, with free leather case…sweetest deal ever)

    Coupled with a seagate 320 2.5.
Never doubted Seagate. No reason to.

I’ve worked with a LOT of hard disks in previous work. Seagate is the way to go.

Buffalo ministation.. i have 2, the shock resistant one and the normal one, both 500gb… can’t complain, they both work well and are very affordable.

i had maxtor one touch 4 mini 160 gb before… ok sya… stylish… metal and rubber ang balot nya… but then again i need a bigger capacity… i had to sell it…
    bought a new one…
seagate freeagent go 320 gb and 500 gb…
    both working fine…
ang pinakamaganda sa seagate and maxtor one touch is their 5 year warranty…
kahit masira ang portable hard disk ko sa 2013 e papalitan pa din ng seagate ang harddisk mo… free of charge and will be sent right at your doorstep…
punta ka lang sa fritz… have it rmaed and wait for several days…
di yan kaya ng western digital…

@John – i have 1TB my passport essential. sulit siya. :D Pati mybook sulit na sulit din. Mag 1 year na sa akin. ^__^

Pero I suggest mag 1TB essential ka nalang kasi mas maliit at hindi na need ng power supply compared to mybook. :)
