Intel Debuts New 5th Generation Mobile Processors

Along with the official announcement of Thunderbolt 3, Intel also debuted the last batch of mobile processors under the Broadwell lineup which consists of three new Intel Core i7 processors and a dual-core Intel Core i5 chip.

The announcement of these new Broadwell-H processors came five months after Intel announced the Broadwell-U earlier this year.

There are actually five (5) processors that were launched during the event, but we excluded the Intel Core i7-5700HQ from our list because it had already made its way to some high-end notebooks prior to the announcement.

Broadwell lineup

All of the newly-launched Broadwell mobile processors are equipped with an Intel Iris Pro 6200 iGPU, albeit with varying base frequency. These new 5th Gen SKUs also share the same TDP which is rated at 47W, noticeably higher than any of the mobile processor that Intel launched back in January.

Lastly, all of these new chips (excluding the i7-5700HQ) are also embedded with an Intel Crystal Well (Crystalwell), a 128MB embedded RAM (eDRAM) that is referred to by the chipmaker as L4 Cache that is accessible by both the CPU and the GPU.

Intel expects notebook PCs with the new 5th Generation Intel Core mobile processors to start popping out in the next month or two.
