According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 805 is the “next generation mobile processor of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 tier”. It features the new Adreno 420 GPU which is capable of producing 40% more graphics processing power than its predecessor, it has Ultra HD support, 4K video capture and playback, and enhanced dual camera Image Signal Processors (ISPs). To top it off, it sports the Krait 450 quad-core CPU, the first mobile CPU to run at speeds of up to 2.5 GHz per core, plus superior memory bandwidth support of up to 25.6 GB/second.

The Snapdragon 805 processor is sampling now and is expected to be available in commercial devices by the first half of 2014.

agree. kasi naman di pa fully evolved ang smartphone natin. just like the PC and gaming consoles. simula naman noon di din sila pansinin kasi ampapanget ng features at mga laro na inooffer dati. yet it evolved to what we knew with them (na sabi daw high-ned na for them) today. yun nga lang hanggang dun na lang sila aminin man natin sa hindi meron pa kayong inaasahan na updates sa PC at gaming console niyo. mangilan ngilan na lang for sure. our SMARTPHONES are the new player nowadays. mas may aasahan pa tayong mas magagandang feats lalo na sa gaming for sure. basta ako i’m enjoying my smartphone for the games they offered me to play with. i don’t know if some can relate to me, kelan nga ba ako huling gumamit ng gaming console at PC (na mamahalin) for games? naalala ko matagal na. taon na hehehe! smartphone na kasi lagi ko dala.

Power SoC indeed but expect it to be power hungry too.
-for smartphones, 720p is enough as it needs less power from the GPU to drive it.
-as for the processor, dual core krait 200 or 300 will do the job.
-GPU, adreno 330 is an overkill, im ok with adreno 320

ideal phone: moto X, xperia sp, xperia zr

i believe S805 is better suited for large display to take advantage of its ability to drive 4k HD displays.

i think its better to get 4k HD TV first before owning a 2k/4k HD phone.

Horses for courses dude. I was once a hardcore gamer like you, but given the CONS of desktop gaming like electricity costs..I have learned to love Smartphone gaming overtime.

Oh and BTW, this is a Smartphone-related topic, Why the heck would you inject a PC-gaming related argument?

Well, I’m glad to know you’re not among those pea-brained people who didn’t get my point.

What I’m really really trying to say here is if you’re buying a smartphone/tablet for the sole purpose of serving your gaming needs, you’re wasting you’re money.

If you’re using your smartphone for your other needs, then good for you. If not, then, you’re wasting your money.

The problem with those potential smartphone/tablet buyers is that they’re only buying a smartphone/tablet just to play games on it. Kinda defeats the real purpose of a smartphone I think.

And as I said before, that particular comment of mine is targeted towards people who think “Smartphone gaming is superior to consoles and PCs” and for people who buy smartphone/tablet solely for gaming purposes.

      Spend your money wisely, kiddos.

    • Avatar for Real Gamer Real Gamer says:

As I said earlier to someone, here are the reasons why smartphone gaming is always inferior compared to Console and PC games:

      1. Touchscreen controls do not offer the best gaming experience especially for hardcore gamers. Even the most optimized touch controls is still inferior compared to what real controllers offer.

      2. Smartphone games are a cowcash for developers. Heck, even some of the paid games out there now offer excessive micro-transaction features which may ruin the gaming experience.

      3. Lack of High quality/AAA games from major game publishers.

      4. Most smartphone version of big and popular titles such as “Need for Speed” and “NBA2K Series” are basically watered down/dumbed down version of their console counterparts. Basically, you don’t even get the experience that the console version offers.

      5. Some smartphone games out there have heavy requirements which only the fastest smartphone / tablet can run. Basically, if your smartphone/tablet can’t run it, it means it’s time to buy a new one. Console gamers only worry whether they can afford the game or not while PC gamers will simply upgrade their rig.

Of course, smartphone gamers will basically point out that portability is the advantage of smartphone games but the disadvantages outweigh the advantages.

Smartphone games are merely designed to kill little time you have. Additionally, most smartphone games are casual games and I’m a hardcore gamer that’s why I dislike them.

I only use my smartphone because of my company’s BYOD policy.

Ikaw ang tanga kasi hindi mo man lang nakita yung disadvantages ng smartphone games. Mas powerful pa nga tong PSVita ko kaysa dyan sa mga smartphones nyo.

Kaya ba ng smartphone mo mag run ng Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Street Fighter X Tekken and other PSVita games out there?

You can’t just accept the fact that console gamers have better games compared to you smartphone gamers got.

    • Avatar for abuzalzal abuzalzal says:

      @RealGamer
You are nitpicking the shortcomings of a handheld touchscreen device

Yung argument mo kasi puro ”eye-candy” aspects…which is plain dumb, given the fact na Smartphones doesn’t have the 4x Anti aliasing and the sophisticated shaders that a desktop gpu has, it’s the Gaming experience that counts…and as far as gaming experience goes, I enjoy it on my smartphone be it a crippled/watered-down version or not.

Yan yung trade-off na sinasabi, All-in-one device na ang smartphone ngayon, Apples to Oranges dude…cannot/shouldn’t be compared to a PC.

    • Avatar for Real Gamer Real Gamer says:

      @abuzalzal
Hindi po “eye candy” ang argument ko dito. Ang point ko dito is the fact that Smartphone games don’t play well compared to console games and PC games.

The worst thing I think about smartphone games are their touch controls. Kahit sobrang optimized na ng touch controls ng isang smartphone game, it’s still not a good experience compared to consoles and PC where you have better accuracy and precision.

I prefer consoles and PC games because the physical controls which give you perfect gaming experience. Para sa akin, pamatay oras lang ang mga smartphone games. Alam ko naman na portability ang main advantages ng smartphone games but the experience they offer isn’t on par on what consoles and PCs offer.

    • Avatar for Real Gamer Real Gamer says:

At isa pa, kaya ko ginawa tong comment na to kasi may mga ungas dyan na nagsasabi na “Smartphone gaming will overthrow PCs and Consoles”. That comment of mine is target towards those people who think that smartphones are superior to consoles and PCs when it comes to gaming.

So many people here can’t get my real point. Sigh.

Still not 64-bit but that UltraHD support, Adreno 420 and Krait 450 points to Godzilla-tier performance.

Kudos to Qualcomm, you probably just gave the people who bought the Z1, G2, Note 3 and S4 post-shopping regrets.

Mediatek, Intel and Huawei – try to catch up. We want more market competition!

    • Avatar for abuzalzal abuzalzal says:

Qualcomm is the real innovator her in terms of performance per core, talagang quantum leaping ang ginagawa nila

Yung Mediatek, parehong A7 lang naman yung Octa chip na ilalabas, pero I doubt it kung may improvements talaga yung per core performance (vs Mediatek Turbo)

Now I’m really wondering what the heck happened to iNtel, wala ng follow-up yung Atom, kase iilan lang yung OEM nag adopt.

As for Nvidia, hanggat walang integrated LTE support yung Tegra, walang kakagat dito.
