Samsung N100s with N2100 single-core Atom CPU

The first time I’ve seen the Samsung N100 series netbook was with their Meego line-up back in September last year and it was priced very affordably at under Php12k. Intel also has a new single-core Atom Cedar Trail processor that’s being used for really low-cost netbooks and Samsung has one out in stores.

Yugatech 728x90 Reno7 Series

Samsung N100s specs:
10.1″ display @ 1024×600 pixels
Intel Atom N2100 1.6GHz
Intel GMA 3150
1GB DDR3 RAM
320GB HDD
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
LAN 10/100 port
VGA webcam
2 x USB 2.0
4-in-1 card reader
6-cell Li-ion battery
DOS

There’s no pre-installed operating system here but it’s being sold in stores for just Php12,900.

Samsung promises a battery life of up to 11 hours on this one as well. I guess since this is the new Cedar Trail processors, it’s also 64-bit and can support up to 4GB of RAM.

I would recommend Ubuntu for netbooks, it looks great on a smaller screen (there’s also the desktop version). Bayanihan is also a good alternative and has a lot of addons you could get with it. If you have some developer skills, (or you could just get somebody to do it for you) you could try Chromium OS, great for everyday surfing and task on the go.
