Sony Xperia Z Ultra WiFi-only tablet now official in Japan

Sony Japan has just made official the WiFi-only tablet version of its popular large-screened smartphone, the Xperia Z Ultra.

With a 6.4-inch display, the original Xperia Z Ultra is already a tablet on its own. Sony Japan didn’t settle with that though and removed its phone functionality and left the WiFi connectivity intact. The result is a WiFi-only Xperia Z Ultra device bearing the model number SGP412JP. A rough translation of the Japanese webpage calls it the Xperia Georgette Ultra.

Specs remain the same as the original Ultra – 6.4-inch full HD display, 6.5mm thin IP58-certified body, 8 megapixel rear camera, 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU, and 2GB of RAM.

The Xperia Z Ultra SGP412JP tablet will be available in Japan on the 24th with a price tag of ¥52,000 or around Php22,000.

I own the xperia z ultra white bought from widget city.

    Here are some comments.
    PROs.
    – good size (used an iphone 4, note 3 and htc one) so far, happy with the size.
    – hard to use slide keyboard even when I’m using the Keymonk (use the same app for the note, it worked perfectly fine)
    – screen sennsitivity (even if there’s a dust or anything at that, the screen pressed by itself – not sure if this has something to do with the sensitivity).
    – Battery – Soso. Carrying with me two portable batteries. I’m in sales so I need to be on the go-always.

    CONs.
    – awful awful earpiece. – I need to use a jawbone Bluetooth headset to have a clear conversation.
    – small icons for its size (but you’ll get used to it).
    – photography (awful camera with no flash).
    – pen style? What pen stylus? I can’t even use a pencil for this. It does not work well (comparing it to the note series)
    – speakers? It sucks. Can’t watch anything without an earphone.

    Conclusion?
Will I still buy this? Yes. I am not a photography-phone junkie. will I buy if it improves the cons? Yes. But should be cheaper.

This is probably SONY’s answer to SAMSUNG’s TabPro line lol

What a sad product, the stylus barely works. Bad battery, bad screen…. No wonder its premium price dipped dramatically sa mga online stores over the past few months…cuz nobody actually wants it.
