Last week, local distributor BanBros Commercial announced that they will be releasing the GalaPad in local stores. The GalaPad is a 7-inch IPS tablet that’s powered by a Tegra 3 processor running Jellybean.
I called up some stores in Metro Manila over the week-end but none of them knew about the GalaPad. After contacting the distributor, they indicated that Asianic and Accent Micro will be getting stocks later this week.
GalaPad 7-inch WiFi:
7-inch IPS LCD @ 1024×600 pixels
NVidia Tegra 3 1.3GHz quad-core processor
1GB RAM
8GB internal storage
up to 32GB via microSD card
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Li-Ion 3500mAh battery
Android 4.1 Jellybean
The GalaPad looks to compete against the Nexus 7 which has an almost similar specs. Suggested retail price of the GalaPad is Php9,999.
Dami pang magandang Chinese brand with respect to specs na hindi ganyan kamahal. Look for Ramos, Pipos, Bitbotz etc
You can get the a 16GB N7 for almost the same price. You’ll lose the expandable storage but you’ll get a better build quality, slightly bigger battery, and of course.. Android update goodies.
At 10k, Bitbotz seems to be the better buy with a bigger screen. If 7 inches is the primary category, then save a bit more for the 16gb Nexus 7.
Honestly why would anyone choose this over the Nexus 7? Just spend a few more and you can get a Nexus 7 with the latest OS updates in Android land.
You probably haven’t heard of the budget-conscious people.
Looks like a downgraded Google Nexus 7 for me. I still love my Nexus. Hndi to rebranded or something. Im proud to own an Asus device powered with the best of Google.
It looked like the Asus Nexus 7 XD at first glance XD

For the lower resolution and only 8GB storage its a different story. Plus I’ll pay for the additional 3k for the premium brand, fast updates of OS plus Global Warranty
Better spend few more hundreds for Nexus 7. if this is 7-8k maybe it can be consider.
But it’s still NOT a Nexus device. Good luck getting OS updates/upgrades on that.
The screen isn’t high definition and it has a lower capacity battery. With only 8gb internal storage (yes even with a microsd slot) I think it should sell for less.
Being sold here in China online for 1000RMB. A decent tablet except for the screen small internal storage. It was released in October 2012 hence the low res screen. A screen resolution of 720P should be standard by now.
Hay naku… andito na nmn ang nag mamagaling…hahhaha… check nyo ung grammar ni yugatech baka mali… wahehehhe
1gb ram on a tegra 3?
pero infairness, hindi cheap tingnan. :)
