Toshiba today also announced its very own and first Android-based tablet. They call it the Toshiba Folio 100, a 10.1-inch NVidia Tegra 2 powered Android tablet.
Toshiba Folio 100
10.1″ capacitive display @ 1024 x 600 pixels
NVidia Tegra 2 CPU
16GB internal storage
Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
3G SIM card slot (optional models only)
mini HDMI, USB 2.0
SD/MMC Card Reader
1.3 MP webcam
7 hours battery life
The Folio 100 runs on Android 2.2 Froyo but it does not have Android market in it (Toshiba puts its own app market though). No word if this will ever reach the Philippines but the 399-euro price (around Php23,000) makes it an attractive unit.
I actually bought a Folio while I was at SG around mid of November.
Sadly this tablet was a flop IMHO… the stock Android ROM by Toshiba was useless and the promised marketplace for it was not present at all. Luckily a guy from XDA Developers cooked-up the FolioMod which made it a lot useful and powerful.
By the way, the Folio might never be available in Philippine markets because Toshiba pulled the plug on marketing it in Europe due to a lot of unsatisfied customers asking for refunds.
The price will probably be higher than 23,000php. Most gadgets sell here for waaaay higher prices than the exchange rates dictate.
After taxes and “patong”, baka galaxy will be cheaper. :(
this is a better alternative than the galaxy tab with its sky high price.
and even if this is not capable of making phone calls, i’ll just keep my current phone, solve na :-)
what’s important is that it’s a lot cheaper than the ipad 3g, and works with flash.
No access to the android market? I have no doubt that a few cooked ROMs from developers will fix that! :)
Yay USB port!!!
3g simcard slot + Andoid 2.2 = must get! lol
Ayos! If toshiba is around Php23,000 lang, then samsung’s tablet would be around 15k only hehe
Does it have the Toshiba durability hallmark?
