Under the hood: What’s your CPU?

The latest news is that AMD is coming out with a quad-core CPU (Athlon II X4) for under Php5,000. If consumers tend to upgrade their PCs every 18 months or so, we should be seeing at least dual cores in homes nowadays.

I’d like to know what processor type/speed you run at home — AMD or Intel?

Mine’s the ff.:

  • Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz
  • AMD Athlon X2 7750 2.7GHz

amd

How about yours?

As of now, works perfectly for my needs. I probably won’t upgrade soon, focusing on getting a good video card. :D

Q6600 2.4ghz for desktop and core2duo 1.67ghz on my laptop.

Dun sa nagtatanong for gaming. If your budget is limited you can try a xeon or e8400 since most games use only 2 cores and and they will run better on a procie clocked at 3.0ghz than on a quad core with 2.4 ghz. Pero kung malakas loob mo buy ka q6600 or yung upgraded version nyan (i forgot the name) tapos OC mo. Sulit yan!

    I have a Pentium D 8 series and Core 2 duo e8400

For gaming, kahit nga yung e7xxx series will do na. especially if your on a budget. Some recommends a Phenom Black series..

I got this cheap Php 3,500 upgrade coming from my 2yr old Athlon 3800+ without changing mobos (after selling off my old proc, i ended up paying only 2.5k hehe).

Paired with a GTX 260, i run the latest games on decent settings. A better GPU will get you farther than getting the best CPU.
