Window (Yuandao) N90 Fast Tab Android ICS Tablet

In the past months we’ve covered a handful of affordable tablets from China. It came in different shapes and sizes and in all honesty they were pretty decently speced as well considering their price. Another Chinese manufactured tablet has recently landed in our doorsteps with the name Window N90 or YuanDao N90.

The Window N90 comes in a fairly simple box. It comes with a charger, two USB cables one is short and one is more lengthy and a pair of headsets. The short microUSB cable terminates into a female USB 2.0. The tablet runs ICS out of the box which is a common thing nowadays.

This tablet features the same screen size as the iPad. Its 9.7” IPS Capacitive Screen has a pretty decent screen resolution at 1024×768 which has a pixel density of 162ppi. This translates to an above average display quality and view angle. Along with the screen the front also features a 2MP camera.

At the top if one is holding the tablet horizontally, the one of three Sleep/Wake buttons on the tablet along with the volume rocker. On its left side (while on the same orientation) is the second sleep/wake button but this one also acts as the Power button. Also on the left side is the 3.5mm audio port.

On its right side, the last of three sleep/wake buttons along with handful of ports. The tablet has 2 microUSB ports, a microSD slot and charging port.

On the same side, the 2 speakers and small reset hole can be found.

The rear 2MP snapper alongside the tablets logo and the ports’ label can be found at back of the tablet. We’re not completely sure about the make of the back panel. But it really doesn’t look or feel cheap.

Here’s a quick rundown of the Window N90’s specs:

9.7” IPS LCD capacitive display @ 1024×768, 162ppi
1GHz Cortex A8 RockChip RK2918 processor
1GB RAM
GC800 Graphics Engine GPU
8GB internal storage
up to 32GB via microSD card
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, WiFi hotspot
2MP rear camera
2MP front-facing camera
Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich
8,000mAh (2 x 4000mAh) Li-Ion battery
244 x 189 x 9.6mm
607g

Apart from the screen size and resolution, there are other similarities with the N90 and iPad 2 in terms of form factor. Of the two, the N90 is almost a millimeter thicker at 9.6mm compared to the iPad 2’s 8.8mm.

The Chinese tablet is also a bit heftier at 630g than the Cupertino tablet which only weighs 607g. Unlike the iPad 2’s tapered body, the Windows N90 has a more squared body with the sides reinforced with plastic bezel that shields the tablet against occasional bumps.

The Window N90 Fast Tab sells for Php11,450 over at Widget City (see listing here).

I fixed the problem for my tablette by opening it ! And with a Digital Mulitmeter I checked what happends when the battery is on charge. And found that the charging connector on the tablet was faulty. I just put more tin on this connector and now it works.

I did a factory reset by accident, now it’s all in Chinese and I can’t figure out how to change the language back to English! I’ve had this Window N90 Fast Tab for about an hour and already screwed it up. I thought the reset would get rid of the wrong password I put in for my WiFi but instead it got rid of the English. HELP!!

In the meantime I fixed it too. Nothing was wrong, just that the tablet froze and shutting it down requires pressing he button longer than I had expected. It fails often though, I reset it at least once a day. I found a forum thread about reflashing the tablet, I’ll try to do it as soon as I find some free time.

as far as i know, acer, apple, samsung, NEO, cherry, torque, and other leading brands gets their OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) from china since the labor cost is very cheap their considering their numbers..

Apple job (for example) is to hire artists, architects, designers for the outer casings and of course all the top marketing magicians to make the their products at the best quality to hide they are still made in china..

I dream of a Philippines that could manufacture mainstream electronics…

I hope I can see my dream come true.

I’d get this for reading magazines and comics. I have a Galaxy Note, and while the screen is sharp enough that I don’t have difficulty reading the words even when the font is really small, I’d still love a relatively cheaper option where I can read comics in the size they were meant to be read. One thing I’m disappointed in is the aspect ratio (4:3). Movies would look great on an IPS screen, but there’d be a lot of space wasted since most movies come in widescreen formats.

I hope there’s an in-depth review coming up for this. Those youtube videos weren’t enough to satisfy my curiosity. All the guy ever did was navigate through screens and some of the apps.

Are there no software reviews of this? :))
I mean the response time of applications and built in functionalities in the Android?

Try looking for some youtube videos. It basically seems like vanilla ICS and the hardware is certainly capable of running it with only minor lag. I’m not a fan of the packaging, but it looks solidly built enough. No, it’s not better than a Galaxy Tab or other mainstream Android tablet, but it’s certainly several steps up from those cheapo china tablets with flimsy hardware.

yung design parang ginaya lang sa iPad. hindi ako bibili ng cheap na product na tulad nito.

As for the topic, i first notice is the shape….it looks like a square tablet to me. But the main draw back of some of these devices is the quality and support.

  13. Avatar for benchmark benchmark says:

Out of the topic: I think what they are refering is China branded products, not china made. Coz if you ban China products/made products, yes almost all products will be ban like iphone, cd-r-king products, cherry mobile, myphone, etc.

Anyway i hope some of us commenters here should not ise this site regarding the issues of China-Philippines dispute, if you want to help the Philippines, then buy Philippine products, support the Philippines,

we also have local manufacturers. i think it’s about time we support our own products.

    • Avatar for e2000 e2000 says:

i’m with you on supporting local products. but how can local manufacturers compete when electricity is expensive here in the Phils. plus the fact most of the raw materials also come from china.

    • Avatar for Sonofa Sonofa says:

      Lead by example…

    • Avatar for bia bia says:

But aren’t most local electronic brands just repackaged units? Most of which are made in China anyway? Like MyPhone and Cherry, local brands, pero hindi gawa dito (as far as I know … might be wrong).

are we not supposed to ban chinese priducts?

    • Avatar for me me says:

      Hahaha! Good luck with that.

    • Avatar for e2000 e2000 says:

if that’s your rational a big majority of our electronics would be banned. And that would also include apple products.

    • Avatar for simplynice93 simplynice93 says:

LOL! Nokia, Sony, MyPhone, Cherry, Torque and many others will be affected by that ban. Without chinese products, prices will soar high..
