Xtreamer Ultra HTPC

Listen to article

We tried the Xtreamer Media Player a year ago here and we’re pretty impressed with it already. Now comes the Xtreamer Ultrawhich is not only a media player but an ultra compact PC as well.

To be formally unveiled next week at Cebit Germany, the Xtreamer Ultra is a sub-$150 media player and HTPC that’s quite affordable.

Xtreamer Ultra
Intel Atom D525 processor 1.8GHz dual-core
Intel NM10 Express chipset
Nvidia Ion 2 graphics processor (NVidia GT218 512MB GDDR3)
4GB DDR3 RAM (maximum)
Nvidia CUDA technology
Nvidia PureVideo HD technology (1080p)
Optional USB Antenna 802.11n WiFi
Optional eSATA Bluray Drive
Optional USB BluRay Drive

Storage is not indicated so I’m guessing you’ll have to fit it with one of your own choosing. The unit comes with an HDMI and DVI output, 6 USB 2.0 ports, eSATA port, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth, Gigabit LAN, and IR connectivity for the remote.

Technical inquiry naman guys, anu pong purpose ng HTPC kung halimbawa nakakaplay naman na ng directly ung TV from USB even 720 or 1080p MKV files (like Samsung 6-8 series or the like) mey upscaling po ba na ngyayari kung halimbawa DVD copies or 720p… I’m very curious lang po sa posibleng enhancement kung meron man otherwise baka kasi pag nagpurchase ako maging extension lang…

all i know is HDMI cables are better than USB pero in terms of 1080p flicks kaya ihandle ng USB fully ung bandwidth… so parang wala din

salamat in advance sa info…

Hmm.. it might be better just to build a Zacate based HTPC.

What would be the advantage of this over a NMT? It seems the both do the same thing. Can a HTPC stream video to two TV’s in the house. What do I need to connect to each TV?

You could put it on a large TV and use it to surf the Internet in HD. :D.

wow! That is nice…but are there any subtitute or much cheaper multimedia player around? Coz out LCD here has its own built in DivX player, yet it hasi its limitation…sometimes the HD movies I downloaded doesn’t have sound (not compatible).

What can you suggest?

@Miklos, no OS + x86 ISA = you can do what you want with it, including installion of a linux distro and XBMC. This made me realize that my first comment is pointless.

Meh, according to engadget, retail price is 200 EUR.
Around 270 USD.

according to http://www.xtreamer.net/Ultra/
it will support xbmc, which is great.

If they can really sell this at <$150, this will sell like hot cakes, though I really doubt they can.

More importantly.

Does it run XBMC – anything else doesn’t matter.

If this is DLNA compliant (which I guess it is), then I am sold. I just have to watch out for benchmarks first.
