Remember the Android-powered, quad-core toting camera that Samsung announced back in August? Well, it now has a price tag and is set to hit the US shelves on the 16th of this month.
As mentioned on our previous post, the Samsung Galaxy Camera has almost the same configuration as the Galaxy SIII (Exynos 4412 Quad, 1GB RAM and 4.8” display). The EK-GC100, however, has a lower battery capacity (1650mAh) and a smaller internal storage (8GB). In addition, Samsung outfitted this camera with an S-LCD screen instead of S-AMOLED found on the S3.
Samsung Galaxy Camera (EK-GC100) specs:
16MP BSI CMOS sensor
Sensor size: 6.17 x 4.55mm (1/23-inch)
Exynos 4412 Quad 1.4GHz

Focal Length equiv.: 23 – 481mm
Built-in Xenon flash
4.8” S-LCD, 1280×720 @306ppi

1650mAh Li-Ion battery

The Samsung Galaxy Camera is priced at USD499 or little over 20,500 in our currency. We have no info when it will be available locally, but it’s safe to say that its SRP will be slightly higher when it’s launched here, maybe around 22 – 24K. Having said that, anybody here interested in getting it at that price?
This promo video made me want to get it moe. No need to buy the nokia lumia 920 for its camera.

@Bobomo: Paano naging phone e di ka nga pwede mag phone calls? Ikaw ang gumamit ng google.
Only a few people will buy this.
Kind of a stupid move for samsung, it would be better to redesign this device.
My comment is for @AsassinV idiot.
Bobo mo!! Phone to! Wag kang mag magaling! Nauso na google dre, in case you dont know. Idiot!
will get a dslr that this one. been using an Android device. so need to get one.
sino ba nagsabi sayo na phone ito? haha! galaxy camera nga eh,, lol!
I read a comment on other site about SG Camera that instead of making cameras into phone, they should do it vice versa, they should improve the camera on phones. I kinda agree on that but compare the pictures on Nokia Pureview 808 whose camera is 41mp to sa 21mp DSLR, the SLR’s pictures are better because it is meant for taking pictures while 808’s camera only reduce too much noise on its pictures. Correct me if I’m wrong in my opinions.
i don’t find it to be practical…
i don’t think it has a phone functionality, or does it? not mentioned in the specs. in case it is a phone, you are right.
well, this is too expensive for a regular camera.
Will be waitingt for its second generation. Maybe then Samsung would place a little front-facing LED screen or a flip touch screen, like on its 2View series. :-)
If i’m not mistaken P23,990 po SRP ng cam.
its 3G/4G HSPA+/LTE but to AT&Ts band only, which will work sa pinas
this is an all in 1 device, for those who want full camera controls on mobile platform OS with full editing and social media capabilites
it tries to do a lot of different things at the same time but not the best job
I think it’s more like an actual ‘regular’ (super zoom?) camera with social networking capabilities (among others of course with android). Not even sure if it’s supposed to make calls. :| Maybe all cameras in the future will have social networking capabilities, since a lot of people who own cameras posts their photos online anyway. (Same as how phones are being fitted with better cameras)
If I’ll buy this, I’ll end up using it as a regular camera because it is too bulky to be used as a phone, so why buy?..
Is this 3G?
sensor size 1/2.3″
too expensive…
Getting it once it hits local shops.
