Samsung ST5500/5000 is the new WiFi-enabled camera has been unveiled at the CES today (Samsung CL80 in the US). It’s going to be the start of the point-and-shoot-and-upload category of cameras this year.

Samsung has not indicated any price point for this model and won’t be releasing it until March 2010. My guess is that this would go around for Php30k but don’t quote me on that.
Found a review of the ST5500 made May 25, 2010. Here’s the link:

are there updates on these units? are they available here in the Philippines already? it’s June by now. thanks!
Both models also have shutter buttons that are angled forward making it more comfortable and natural to hold and shoot.
smartphone cam lacks optical zoom, but other than that resolution and quality is at par with todays latest digital cams
So it finally came out. This has been featured months ago in gsmarena.com and people were actually expecting that it would only be released in Korea but voila! it will be released to the US as well, hope it makes it to our shores!
Samsung Philippines will only bring in ST5000 and it will be available under 20K….more details soon.
Well, we can say point-and-shot digital cams improved a lot over the years like this new wifi capabilities, much improved cam lens (14.2MP), 720p HD Video, AMOLED,etc. However, as smartphone cam quality getting closer to digital cam, i think people will prefer all-in-one gadget smartphone. There is smartphone available these days which can also capture 720p HD Video, AMOLED Screen, 8MP or even more 12.1MP (wl of course HD Cam lens because it’s optimize for HD)and the rest of cool stuff for 3D gaming and productivity.
One word of caution: Be careful what photos you take. If the auto-upload feature is there, then any photos you take can be posted online.
That is so cool! Imagine, you can directly upload the picture you’d taken in the net.
I’m just wondering about its battery consumption though (wifi, bluetooth, etc.).
Its a great start for 2010. Nice gadget!
HD video recording is quickly becoming a norm on digital cameras
A optimized gadget for 2010, sooner models can have a built-in browser. Good Start!
@pedro – no built-in browser there so surfing is out.
would the WIFi function be usefull for surfing the net or just for uploading pix? that would be great for bloggers
@calvin – I think the uploads are web-optimized. That means your 5MB photos become just 100KB before it’s uploaded. Have to verify that though.
I hear this one has a built-in address book for those uploads. Neat.
so how long will it take for the camera to upload those 14mp photos or even 8mp photos to your flickr account? maubos ba muna battery nya bago magawa yun?
How much is the suggested retail price of Samsung CL80?
I want one! Magkano kaya to? around 20k?
