When reviewing handsets, a lot of times we focus on storage as a major deal breaker. To some extent it’s important and on occasion, it may have turned off a lot of people from actually buying a smartphone because of the lack of storage capacity.
Of course, there will be isolated cases. The 16GB iPhone is still the most popular variant of the iPhone line (it’s usually the first one to run out of stocks).
The same cannot be said of other handsets though — especially all the Windows Phone 7 smartphones that do not support external storage.

Based on observations though, I think the tolerable amount of internal storage for a handset would be in the vicinity of 8GB to 16GB. That’s assuming there’s absolutely no option to expand the internal memory.
I’d like to test this theory and do a little poll.
Can you folks check your smartphone and see what’s the capacity of the microSD card you are using with it?
Please let us know what’s the internal/built-in storage your phone has and what’s the size of the microSD card you used with it.
Here’s mine: Internal – 16GB; microSD – 8GB.
I’m just very curious if people really buy high-capacity microSD cards for their phones (like 16GB to 32GB). By the way, I was surprised to see that a 32GB KingMax microSD card (Class 4) sells for only Php1,880 at CDR-King.
