Poll: What’s the best alternative to Google Reader?

After Google announced that it’ll pull the plug on its popular RSS reader/aggregator, it left millions of netizens scrambling to find an alternative to the popular tool. So is there really an equivalent, or better alternative to Google Reader?

Actually there are almost a dozen of viable replacements to Google Reader, probably even more. In fact, there are at least one or two great RSS reader in each platform, whether mobile or PC/Mac, and free ones if we may add. You just need to dig deeper and find one that suits your needs/taste.

As for us, we’re using NetVibes on our PC and Reeder when we’re on our Mac. On our Android/iOS devices, we use NuffNang X (of course) and sometimes FlipBoard to get our daily dose of news from our favorite blogs. We’re not saying that these services are the best, but it gets the job done for us. So how about you, have you found a good alternative for Google Reader yet?

Wonderful blog you have here but I was wondering if you knew of any message boards that cover the same topics discussed in this
article? I’d really love to be a part of online community where I can get suggestions from other experienced people that share the same interest. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Thank you!

In my phone, I’m using Operamini browser the mobile browser has a good ability to cache recent post. However, it only saves 201 feeds of the newest post per website or blog.

I’ve been a google reader user for about 2 years now. I use it everyday to read on local and international news and feeds from other sources like yugatech and failbook. Using it is much faster than browsing through different websites.

Yesterday I switched to feedly. The only problem i have with it is it’s not working 1/3 of the time due to the increase in demand (probably). Hopefully their server can accommodate most of the users when google shuts down its reader service.

I’m currently opting for feedly since they have a web app for my computers, and mobile apps. I’m still not perfectly sold, overuse of animations in android is killing me but i’m trying to adjust. It’s pretty but I’d prefer the usable and minimalist Google Reader any day.

If anyone knows of other RSS aggregator that can sync through all devices, please please PLEASE let me know. I’ll give you a cookie :D

Otherwise, please sign the petition at change.org if you haven’t yet. No guarantee if Google will reconsider but it’s worth a try. https://www.change.org/petitions/google-keep-google-reader-running?utm_campaign=action_box&utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=share_petition

I agree 100%. I really like Google Reader’s simplicity and straightforwardness. Feedly is probably the closest replacement for me currently as of can keep the same feeds on both mobile and desktop.

feedly has worked for me so far. It also allows for a seamless transition from google reader.

Here’s a thought: Since Google+ is picking up, why not “fold” Reader into Plus? Dunno about the intersect between Plus and Reader users but I’m guessing it’s pretty high.
